Though the Joker of the Injustice universe was murdered by Superman in the game's opening events, the Joker of Prime Earth still played a role in the game's story when several heroes and villains were transported to the dystopian world. Now with the sequel, Injustice 2, seemingly putting its focus solely on the alternate universe, it's quite a shock to see the Clown Prince of Crime make his way back in to the story.

While there's no further explanation for how (or even if) he's alive, a new trailer has dropped that gives us a better look at the villain's updated moveset. Check it out below and let us know what you think!

@ALostCause - Not the Joker from Prime Earth...it's supposedly the one Superman murdered at the game's beginning.

There's only so many ways someone can be brought to life in DC's mythos, I'm pretty curious to see how it happened.

@ALostCause - It's a big "IF" it happened right now....the game's mini bio for him in the description sorta throws it in doubt...

"Though killed by Superman, the Joker continues to haunt the lives of all those touched by his madness. By destroying Metropolis, he set the events in motion which made enemies of Superman and Batman. If he were alive to see the chaos he’d created, he would surely be smiling."

Little strange choice of words....which I didn't outright confirm that he's alive in the article.

@MattBellissimo - yeah that seems to imply it is him, without confirmation it outright. I guess there's still a chance it could just be prime joker.

If it is this universe's joker, that is pretty interesting from a storytelling standpoint, evil supes is gonna be pissed.

I know exactly how Joker is alive in this game.

There is a pre fight exchange of dialogue in the game between him and Batman which goes as follows.

Batman: You're the other earth's Joker.

Joker: This ones better. I had disciples here.

@AngryBillCipher - Arrow in this game is from another dimension. He'll most likely come back with Black Canary via Dr Fate.

Not sure how Joker will manage to cross dimensions back to the Injustice world, but I'm glad they didn't resurrect the one that died since it would undo all the character development from the first game.

I was watching this thinking how fvcking annoying it would be to play this game as the Joker because there is waaaaaaaaay too much crazy laughing going on. Then I thought of the sound technician who had to man the board during the recording of the laughing while the director kept telling the actor to do yet another take but slightly different. If that sound tech didn't kill himself after the session then he must play Russian Roulette for fun.

Personally I don't really care how the Joker looks, I see the character almost like the venom symbiote. Since we don't really know who he was before he went insane, he could have been anyone.
