No Longer A Pirates Life For Verbinski

Instead of gathering up all the Pirates for a fourth time Verbinski will instead focus his talents on Bioshock.

Verbinski will focus on other projects one in particular that includes a pretty popular video game, Bioshock, will be a Universal adaption of the best selling video game. The script is written by John Logan and is probably going to be Verbinski's next film he directs. Verbinski goes on to say:

"I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team," Verbinski said. "I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future."

Verbinski is also in charge of creating a movie based on the ever popular board game "Clue".

Yeah that's true. Video game movies usually do suck. But if you can do it right, sometimes they could be pretty epic. Like if they do Gears of War correctly. But I'm with Betty on this one, leave Clue alone. Unless for some reason they decided to make the new Clue like the Broadway musical...

oh please! the movie will rock. you all are having the EXACT same reaction as when they announced way back when, "i'm planning on a live action movie of Pirates of the Carribean/the ride." "What?! a movie based on that Disney ride?! it'll never work!" he's the man and can bring anything to the screen!

I DONT THINK HOLLYWOOD IS GRASPING AT STRAWS..STUFF LIKE VIDEOGAME MOVIES, GRAPHIC NOVEL MOVIES, JUST COULDNT BE DONE BACK IN THE DAY, NOW THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING WITH CG NOWADAYS..THERES NO LIMITS BUT YOUR IMAGINATION. SO DO THE GAME MOVIES...DO THE GRAPHIC NOVEL FLICKS, BRING THE 80'S CARTOONS TO LIVE ACTION..JUST GET A GOOD DIRECTOR..THATS ALL.

Sweet! I'm excited for both of those! I'm a gamer, so I love video game movies just for the fact that they are my games made into movie form haha. Plus I like about everything, I loved Doom, I will say that the Dungeon Siege one was pretty bad...but I still enjoyed the cheesy Ewe Bol-ness haha. I think BioShock could be pretty cool, tho I only played the demo..

As much of a lover of all things comic book, I love video games just as much. I was born in an X-Men T-shirt with a controller in my hand. Bioshock is one of the best games ever made. This makes me want to pull the game out again.

Visually, a Bioshock movie could be stunning! I hope they get it right, I'm pretty sure they could because the story is some good material.

I had enough of PIRATES since the 3rd one, didn't know and still don't know what all the fuss was about, though i grew to love the 1st one! As for BIOSHOCK!!! FRIGGIN' A that'll be AWESOME! Cool game! ; ) p.s. ain't got a CLUE what CLUE is lol?!?

Hm... good video game movies...can't quite think of anything...Doom...bad...Resident Evil...good flick, but bad adaptation...OH! I will give you Super Mario Brothers. Who DOESNT seriously love that movie? Bioshock will fail at life. Just like the rest.

Bioshock is a sweet game and one that is definatly adaptable (is that a word?)...anyways, I think if done properly it could break the trend of bad video game movies. Although Mortal Kombat movie...common...that was dope

Smallvillechic90z... I sincerely doubt that making one mistake on a message board (if it even is a mistake) qualifies for 'failing at life.' Haha people are so dramatic online, huh ;)

Three pirate movies is enough, though if they want to make more more power to them. Bioshock has great potential, but it would have to be done right. No half-ass Ewe Boll bullcrap. If they are going to make Bioshock, they better go all out and Spielburg that s@#t! Its too good of a story, and a game, to deserve anything less.

I've been expecting a wave of video game movies for a while now, given that with the advance of technology, the quality of video game graphics caught up with (and in some cases overtook) the quality of the storylines-the best games feel more like movies or stories that you play through rather than just being games. I have to say though, out of all games, i'm most excited about the Metal Gear Solid movie, which i'm praying will be done properly-potentially it could be utterly mind-blowing. Some games will inevitably be butchered just as some superhero/comic book movies have been, but if we get one video game movie of Dark Knight's quality, then I say it's worth it. Bring on Bioshock!

Agreed. Its the curse of game to Movie..Will this break it!..i doubt it. I had slim hope when Peter Jackson was set to direct Halo..but that aint happening.

The first Resident Evil movie was awesome, the rest- not so much. I loved the Silent Hill movie and am looking forward to the sequel, but most other movies based on games have sucked ass!

Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead could have been SO much cooler, but they were nigh unwatchable.

I take each of these video game movies as they come and try not to judge until I see it, but i don't have very high hopes anymore.

Agreed Poker. I liked Silent Hill, and the first Resident Evil was pretty cool, even if they did deviate from the story a lot. Everything else... not so much.
