Sony has just released artwork, renders and screenshots revealing Solomon Grundy for their upcoming DC Universe Online MMO!

Solomon Grundy is part zombie and part plant, a bizarre, centuries-old half-human life form filled with confused anger. At times he is a rampaging monster, at others a calculating and coldblooded villain.



Solomon Grundy’s enhanced strength makes him a threat even to the DC Universe’s strongest heroes. As an immortal, massive blows or injuries can’t kill or hurt him – afterwards, he simply regenerates to rise again.

Solomon Grundy has been seen skulking in swamps, sewers, and abandoned buildings in both Metropolis and Gotham City. Denizens of these cities beware the low growl of “Solomon Grundy, born on a Monday…”

Out of all of the games in development right now, I think I'm the most excited for this one! The big question is if I'm going to get it for the PC or the PS3... Decisions, decisions :o)

Nope. not all of them. DC does not have anything like Captain America, Spider - Man, Wolverine, or Daredevil.

Now DC does have chacter similar to Thor, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Thanos, and Sentry... so there are some counterparts.
And then there's the Squadron Supreme which IS DC characters in the Marvel U. You have Hyperion for Superman, Nighthawk for Batman, Spectrum for Green lantern etc

So far it looks like it's only going to be for the PS3 and PC. Since Sony is behind it, I highly doubt it'll come to the Xbox 360... Maybe Microsoft will hook up with Marvel for a MMO? :o)

The other 10% is a Zombie Angry Drunk.

Grundy would be a great throw in for one of these DC franchises. Not as a main villian IMO, just cause there's too much Hulk stigma going around, but he could add serious action without eating up too much story.

Just out of curiosity, how would you attack it? If you don't mind me asking.

This is an AMAZING concept!!! Which is why I already have and play City of Heroes. This is just a knock off with a brand attached to it that narrows the demographic to DC fans, so not the wisest business move on DC/Sony's part. MK vs. DC works because there is a shit ton of MK fans to add to the DC fans, and it wasn't exclusive to Sony. I dunno. Just my opinion.

the game looks good, it should rock when it comes out.

but THIS particular screenshot is a little weird.. the car that Grundy is grabbing is incredibly big and completely out of scale!.. if that is the size of the car, then Grundy should be the size of a Hobbit!! haha.

No offense to the CG artists ok? And i know the car is in "first plane" (or how it is correctly said).

I think marvel is starting out by making a kids mmo with their superhero line and then if that fairs well they will make a title similar to the DCUO

Love your poem spidey209. I write myself, mainly scripts and stuff but i used to dabble in poetry..its easy to get a bit pretentious with poems though! But i like yours a lot. And your friend is nice too;)

Grundy is class..tragic, creepy character. He actually has a solo comic out at the mo, but i havnt checked it out yet.

Thanks, Rorschach01! Me too, I write mainly scripts and stuff, but I love writing poetry also. I wrote one about suicide, that's just extremely beautiful, but NO publisher will touch it, due to the content. Oh, well.

And Yes, Angel is a BABE, but she's my buddy, so darn. Sux 2 be me. lol jk :)

I'll have to check out that GRUNDY solo comic! I'll hit the comic shop and see if they got it.

Actually i just realized that we will not be able to play as the main DCU characters soooooooooooo i am going to start a School of Aqua Lads and we will call ourselves the Wet Willy Brigade and we will gaurd the beach front in our skivvies as the first defense of the Oceans. We will be expendable , but we will be many!!!!!

The only MMO in development for Marvel right now has been farmed out to Gazillion, and is based on the childrens "Super Hero Squad" property. The more serious one that was in development had Marvel drop out, and the resources that had already been put together for it became the Champions Online MMO. So, if you're looking for a serious Marvel-based MMO to counter DCUO then it might be a long wait.
With a very conservative guess at a two year development cycle for Super Hero Squad before Gazillion even starts work on anything more serious . . . well. Let's not hold our breath.
