Amber Heard To Play Mystique In X-Men :First Class?

According to Production Weekly, The Jonses' actress may be up for the role of a younger version of the shape shifting mutant in Mathew Vaughan's prequel. There's also word on who Rosamund Pike may play, and it ain't Emma Frost!..

Amber Heard is the latest actress to be linked to X-Men: First Class.

According to Production Weekly, 20th Century Fox has "strong interest" in recruiting the Joneses star to play Mystique in director Matthew Vaughn's prequel. Rebecca Romijn portrayed the character in the first three X-Men movies.



Apparently Rosamund Pike is in the running to play Charles Xavier's assistant Moira MacTaggert. MacTaggert appeared briefly in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and was played by Olivia Williams. Rumours emerged last week connecting Pike to the part of Emma Frost.

Inglourious Basterds star Michael Fassbender has reportedly declined an offer to screen test for villain Magneto. James McAvoy is the only confirmed cast member, playing a younger version of Sir Patrick Stewart's Xavier.



X-Men: First Class is scheduled to open in cinemas on June 3, 2011.

Pretty good article. Hope this X-men movie is better than the previous 3 movies. Anybody know if anyone from the first 3 films will return as their characters?

I've seen the girl "act", and let me tell you, she can barely do that.Why would you even need an actress that young?The comics version is very old, and wouldn't be that young in a prequel.And even if she isn't that old, she's gonna be under make-up, so you could get an older actress.You really need a good actress to pull off mystique.She's needs to be intimidating and brutally cold-hearted.There aren't many actresses that could pull that off.Especially one that young.Hell, Rebecca Romijn barely did it.

On the other hande, even though I say she's too young to play mystique, Romijn was only 27 when the first X-Men came out.This girl will be 25, so I guess they'll make it work.If she gets it.

Also, I thought Pike was being pursued for Emma Frost?Or has that been debunked?

I don't know if this is a prequel or a reboot, but I'm hoping they start over and get more in line with the comics.I want Mystique to be Rogue and Nightcrawler's mother and so on.

Damn... So Fass ain't diggin' it. Well, i saw it coming a mile away. He's too talented and doesn't wanna let Fox screw up his career. Good man ;)

He'd be better as a Spidey villain anyway. Mac Gargon, Maxwell Dillon or Cleatus Cassidy all the way!!!

I don't understand where this project is going. The same characters as all the times before but with new actors, some times younger sometimes not so much? Is this going to have any relation to how the team started in the actual comics?

I knew it and I said it...Rosamund Pike was really up for the role of Moira not Emma Frost, that role should go to Annalynne McCord lol.

But I like that Mystique is in this can't wait for this movie to come out.....and it better be good because it's coming out on my bday.

This is becoming unbelievable. There is no need for Mystique so early on in the X-Men story. They should be worrying about casting the original 5 members.

Meh, I hate Fox and pretty much every CBM movie they've ever made so I find it hard to get even a little bit interested in this! Still, these seem like ok casting choices...maybe we'll get a proper Brotherhood of Evil Mutants! I cant blame a great actor like Fassbender turning down this movie - here's hoping Marvel Studios snatch him up instead! (as Captain Britain!!!)

Well, I guess I'm ok with this. And thank God Rosamund isn't Emma Frost because I honestly couldn't see her in that role. And damnit Fassbender, I was looking forward to see you against McAvoy on big screen but well, it's Fox so I totally understand.

Don't know if Mystique is really the right role for her though. I personally see Heard as the Supergirl type :)
