Dark Phoenix have not been kind, but that hasn't seemed to have had much impact on the movie's opening weekend projections.
20th Century Fox's final
X-Men film is still expected to come in under
The Secret Life of Pets 2 with a $50M-$55M bow in The US and Canada, but its overseas predictions are a lot higher. According to Deadline,
Dark Phoenix could rake in as much as $120M-$135M abroad, which would give it a fairly respectable global opening of over $170M.
It remains to be seen if the critically panned superhero flick can climb that high
and maintain those figures in the coming weeks, of course, but even if it does turn out to be the flop everyone expected, the merry band of mutants will soon be under the Disney/Marvel umbrella.
