The Name Of Jessica Chastain's Mysterious X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Villain Has Been Revealed

We still know very little about the character being played by Jessica Chastain in X-Men: Dark Phoenix but some officially released stills from Fox seemingly confirm the name of who she will be playing.

Last year, EW debuted the first images from X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Fox has finally released them without watermarks. You can check those out in the gallery below if you fancy refreshing your memory but with these comes a very interesting reveal about Jessica Chastain's mysterious villain. Apparently, her name is "Smith" but what does that tell us about the character who is said to be a shapeshifter?

Not much and there's a very good chance this moniker is being used to hide her true identity. It's widely believed that she'll be masquerading as a government agent of some sort so if Simon Kinberg has decided to call her "Agent Smith," it's fair to say that was a rather lazy decision on his part!

Looking at the comics, the only Smith associated with the X-Men appears to be Tabitha Smith, a character who has been referred to as Time Bomb, Boom-Boom, Boomer, and Meltdown over the years. Then, there's the Agent Smith from Deadpool who the Merc with the Mouth murdered after escaping from the facility which turned him into Deadpool. Chances are Chastain has no ties to either.

What are your theories? As always, be sure to let us know that in the comments section down below.

Lord... why do hey give the keys to the castle to boring, uninspired directors. All I’ve heard is that he’s making mistakes made int he previous movies .

When you remember seeing these images first debut a few weeks ago but the article says that they debuted last year and you have a brief brain fart because you’ve forgotten that it’s not 2017 anymore.

They’ve done...something with the Mystique design.
A different shade of blue...a different texture of material...JLawrence looks thinner/sleeker in that shot.
It looks miles better than Apocalyspe.

My highest hope for this film is that it does nothing to negatively effect the MCU and the X-Men's part therein.
