Fox's GAMBIT Movie Loses Another Director As Gore Verbinski Walks Away From The Project

What on Earth is going on with this movie?! Gambit has just lost its third director after Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman decided to walk away but why has Gore Verbinski quit and will the spinoff be delayed?

Remember when Gambit was supposed to be released in October 2016? Well, the movie currently has a release date of February 14th, 2019 but whether or not it can meet that is now completely up in the air. Deadline and a number of outlets have confirmed that Gore Verbinski is the latest filmmaker to walk away from the project but this is said to be an amicable split which is a result of scheduling issues.

Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman quit the Marvel movie over creative differences but it's hard not to wonder if there may be more to this story than meets the eye. For now, Channing Tatum remains attached to star and the studio is presumably looking for a replacement (lucky number four, eh?).

Interestingly, the trade notes that "Lizzy Caplan was in talks to co-star" so it's possible that she may have also decided against starring in the long-delayed release. With Disney in the process of acquiring 20th Century Fox, it's getting hard to imagine that Gambit will ever happen and this is another step in the wrong direction. What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

This movie is cursed.
I mean, the Fox-Deal alone was a good excuse as any to shut this project, but now...
Look, i was very supportive, but even i am no longer optimistic about it, enough is enough:

@Doomsday8888 - Yeah, they need to just stop trying to make this movie happen. Wait until Disney completely acquires Fox in like 18 months, and then have Disney and Marvel review this project and decide what to do with it.

@Doomsday8888 - I don't really care about the movie, but any excuse to see Lizzy Caplan in a film makes my knickers tight.

Is anyone surprised at this?

Once upon a time a Gambit movie would have been fantastic, but that was long ago.

Also don't think Tatum would have been able to top the nineties cartoon.

Man, there were some fantastic Cartoon intro's in the Eighties and Nineties.
The Xmen one was pure sex......

Also the Conan one leaves you feeling just Manly, dammit my chest hair just grew listening to it.

This movie was never going to happen lol. Really want to see Gambit on the big screen again, but not a solo movie right off the bat. Also, I think Tatum can play other heroes that would fit much better.

@Menks123 - This movie was always for the investors. Just to be "in development'

I wish i could be suprised. Is anyone actually excited about this movie? I think tatum is a very limited actor.

@Jeight8 - I suspect a lot of his roles are due to many women liking him, BUT, having said that; many actors that are considered good-looking are told to remain good-looking by their directors and this somewhat limits their facial expressions and thus, acting.

Maybe he just hasn't had the right role, yet.

I thought the same of Tom Cruise until I saw him in "Born on the Fourth of July". I actually forget he was Tom during the film. He was also nominated for an Oscar for best actor for this role.
