Joe Cornish And Shane Black Said To Be GAMBIT Director Contenders

We recently found out that Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman was being courted to step in and take the helm of Fox's Gambit movie, and now we have two more names to add to the list.

The Gambit movie may have lost original director Rupert Wyatt, but if one of the guys said to be in contention to replace him gets the gig, Channing Tatum and Fox will have landed on their feet.

Heroic Hollywood has heard that in addition to the previously reported Doug Liman, Shane Black and Joe Cornish are also on the studio's radar to helm the X-Men spinoff. Black has directed many fan-favorite flicks, most recently Marvel's Iron Man threequel, while Cornish has also worked with that studio as a writer on the Ant-Man screenplay. Since his acclaimed debut, Attack The Block, he's been lined up for several other big projects, but never landed any - could Gambit be the one?

No mention of any talks taking place, so it's possible these are just the directors Tatum and co. have in mind. We'll keep you updated, but for now let us know which of these three you'd most like to see bring the Ragin' Cajun to the big screen for his first ever solo movie.

Iron Man 3 is good.

There. I said it.

But I thought Shane Black was revitalizing the Predator franchise?

@Darktower

???
Shane Black is an awesome director and writer. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was awesome and he has wrote such classics like Lethal Weapon. I don't see the problem...oh wait
'BUT HE DONE IRON MAN 3 AND THAT HAS MANDARIN TWIST HURR DURR'

Get over Iron Man 3 and if you actually watch the film you would see that it's a pretty entertaining flick, but NO people just think the Mandarin twist completely takes away the great action, characters and script.

But you are the guy who called Whedon a bad director and didn't even acknowledged his previous work but only because of ONE movie you call him a bad director. lol

Just remember, one bad movie doesn't equals a bad director
Everyone has their bad day in the office dude

Oh yeah the people who are saying Gambit is a stupid idea and Fox is a terrible studio are coming

[frick] the haters, Fox's slate is more exciting for me than DC's and even Marvels.

Haha.. Iron Man 3 was awesome.
The only reason it gets hate is to overcompensate for MOS, which sucked so badly later that year.

Looking forward to Gambit being revealed as actually being a male stripper. That's all Tatum is good for anyway.

@LEVITIKUZ Oops, probably should've clarified as "Top 5 MCU movie". Good point.
