Not only the story, but the complete screenplay from a possible X-Men spin-off movie have been revealed and are now online. Set in the late 80's between X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and DARK PHOENIX, the film was a horror/monster story influenced by John Carpenter's THE THING and would have seen Hank McCoy/Beast facing off with a monstrous mad scientist-turned-"Windigo" in a snow-covered Alaskan village while still battling his inner "beast". Wolverine and Professor X were also to be included, and Mr. Sinister was to be introduced, but it seems that franchise honcho Simon Kinberg refused to even read this completed draft.

After a harsh drop in its second weekend Dark Phoenix's domestic gross might well still be behind the opening weekend of The Wolverine, previously the lowest opening in the franchise. That is... something.

Endgame is $45M behind Avatar, but only $12M behind its original release. It could potentially outgross the latter.

Guess they realized their version of Beast was nothing like the comics and nobody wanted that crap. Lookin like a blue wolfman that transforms back and forth when he gets angry. He’s Bulk the blue Hulk!!!

A few years ago marvel got the trademarks for Alpha flight and few other characters. Also, Fox talked about doing an Alpha Flight movie, I guess this movie would have been their intro or precursor to own movie.

Seems pretty obvious that they didn't go for this because it has Wolverine in it and Jackman was already leaving at that point.
