Another Way OLD MAN LOGAN Can Be Adapted

Another Way OLD MAN LOGAN Can Be Adapted

Writing how Old Man Logan should be adapted to film is quite popular on here, so I decided to take my turn.

Over the past week or so, a few srticles have been written explaining ways to adapt the fan-favorite Old Man Logan story. Its difficult to do because FOX only owns X-Men and Fantastic Four, most whom are dead. Many main characters in this story belong to MARVEL Studios and Disney. The Wolverine incorporated elements of Old Man Logan with Wolverine: Logan and the Claremont-Miller series, so I think its best to do this again. I'm not saying this is a Wolverine sequel, because the more I thought it out, the more it became a team film.

We start off a few years or decades into the future. In flashbacks or voice-overs, it is revealed that after the setinels, mutant kind has become extinct. We get a scene showing Logan is living with Mariko and Yukio back in Japan. The next day, someone comes to the door. Here's where the film can go one of two ways:
1. An old friend/enemy (Gambit, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Sabretooth, etc)
2. A team (X-Men or X-Force)

Whoever it is informs Logan that the first mutant birth in decades is about to happen, and that if the baby isn't taken some place safe, the government will kill it or train it to hunt down the remaining mutants. Mariko convinces Logan to go. In America, Logan meets the rest of the team (or small group of remaining X-Men) and they plot to find the mother. A telepath (Cable, Emma Frost, Psylocke) uses a type of Cerebro to pinpoint her location and move out.

Along the way, they encounter government agents, government strike forces, and even mutants working for the government. Also, throw in a team of mutants who want the baby for evil purposes. Then we'll get fights, deaths, all the good stuff. In the end, Logan and whoever is left of his team take the mother back to the safe house so she can have the baby. All of this gives Logan hope (see what I did there) to either form a new team or stick with this one.

As I said earlier, this turned into a film meant for a team such as X-Force, but I think it could still work as a solo/duo mission.

For reference, I combined the continuing storyline of The Wolverine and the Days of Future Past films with the Old Man Logan and Messiah Trilogy from X-Men comics. What do you think?

Yeah no offense or anything but this sounds like a complete rip off of Children of Men...

Honestly, I've never seen the movie, but after reading the Wiki, yeah there are A LOT of similarities. But it has a 93% on RottenTomatoes, so maybe thats a good thing :)

Check it out it's a great flick! I guess great minds think alike, you did have alot of good ideas though and this was alot better than all of the other Old Man Logan editorials out there. Keep up the good work!

I wanna see Logan turn evil in a movie. Something like Wolverine: Enemy of the State, or Wolverine Goes to Hell.

I want to see him lose it and fight his friends.

Those are both good stories, although I can't imagine "Goes to Hell" would ever be made.

@ Soto

I'm with you 100%. Old Man Logan has TONS of great scenes that could be awesome on film. Scenes that are IMPOSSIBLE to do with the rights at Fox.

Like you said, I want to see it done justice, otherwise, not done at all. Replacing characters with random mutants would totally destroy a lot of what made that story so good.

Also, yes. Daken or X-23 would be good things to center a wolvie film around as well.

There are literally tons of characters and stories that can be told. Why people have a hard time understanding that Wolverine has more than just Old Man Logan left to tell is beyond me, and actually shows how little people actually know.

Wolverine was introduced in the 70's, and has had his own series since the 80's as well as multiple mini-series' before that. How could anyone honestly think Old Man Logan is the last Wolvie story to be told?

@SotoJuiceMan
I agree. To many moments would be ignored with out cooperation between Studios.

@CorndogBurglar
I'd rather see an Omega Red story than Old Man Logan, at least right now

Way to make Old Man Logan; Do like they did with Japanese-saga: very loose adaption.
