Hugh Jackman Not Ready To Give Up Wolverine

Hugh Jackman is currently filming Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" marking his seventh on screen portrayal of the iconic Marvel Comics berserker. No one would fault Jackman if he said that was his last time out as Wolverine but the actor says he's not ready to hang up the claws.

Starting the interview off with HitFix, actor Hugh Jackman admits that they didn't really hit the mark with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Said the Australian actor, "We didn't worry about ratings [with "The Wolverine"], we just worried about trying to nail that character that is endemic in the comic book. I felt [in previous films] that we didn't have enough time because there were too many other mutants or other storylines or we just missed the mark. I feel in this one we kind of got it."

Hugh goes on to state that his love for the Marvel Comics character is greater than ever before and that despite presently filming his seventh outing as Wolverine, he's not thinking about stopping. "I'm not ready to give him up just yet," said Hugh. He continued, "Let me tell you, I love [the role] and probably like [the character] more than ever." With a film adaptation of "X-Force" in the works, could Jackman also be part of that X-Men spinoff's future? Maybe Fox is listening to fans' complaints about Wolverine being the center and apparent leader of the X-Men team so they're giving Wolvie his own squad, a team that he's lead in the more recent run of the comic book title.

Well they keep putting Wolverine in the forefront why would he say he didn't like the character if he keeps getting work portraying him.

I'm glad he loves the character so much. He should play Wolverine for as long as he can. Maybe Old Man Logan when he's older. My only complaint is that he needs the costume. PUT THE [frick]ING COSTUME ON!

What an overrated actor. His Wolverine is one of the least faithful or interesting adaptations of a storied comic character I've ever seen.

Hugh Jackman has always been perfect as 'Wolverine'. Glad he's not giving up the role.

Who cares about the yellow spandex. It would look un intentionally funny if it was on film.

BTW, the liar says that Fox doesn't worry about ratings with Wolverine despite the fact that they've made TWO PG-13 movies with him in it. [frick]ing typical. One of the bloodiest and most violent mythologies in comic history and Fox makes it for 13 year olds. This wouldn't be so bad if Jackman didn't lie to our faces about this fact.

In 10 years he should portray OLD MAN LOGAN.
Get the older Jeremy Renner as blind Hawkeye too.

Driving all over the country in that Spidey-Mobile,being chased by T-Rex Venom & cannibal Hulks!
Awesome visuals & brutal violence..Oh Yea!

He's going to play Wolverine until he's 65. The dude hasn't aged all that much in 13 years. Plus he remains one of the best casting choices for a comic book character ever. Hugh Jackman is Wolverine.
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 7/17/2013, 4:33 AM
High Jackman is Wolverine in that he's a foot taller than the comic counterpart, not feral, and only gives off an occasional scowl.

Yeah, that screams Wolverine to me.
thewonderer
thewonderer - 7/17/2013, 4:35 AM
lmao at people claiming he's doing it for the fame and attention.

Look at RDJ, a man demanding upwards of 75 million to STAR in films he's shouldn't be starring in either.

If RDJ really loved the character, he wouldn't be in negotiations for even more money to play the character in A2 and A3.

Hugh is the most passionate actor to ever play a superhero. And that goes a long way.

13 year olds keep complaining that they want an R rated 'Wolverine'. Whats wrong with PG 13 ?
thewonderer
thewonderer - 7/17/2013, 4:36 AM
Oh shut up Ramon, he is feral.

THE ONLY thing I'll give you is being a foot taller. The rest is you failing to come up with anything else.

^^sameoldthing^^ you right. you real right. old man logan would be super dope. But on another note, wasnt there an article/interview like two or three days ago on this site where he said he wasnt ready to give it up? something about how theres more story arcs he wanted to do.

LOL @ anyone who thinks Jackman is feral in ANY X-Men movie save X-2 where he finally does some dirt in Xaviers Mansion against Stryker's troops.

@raccoonwithrockets

If I want a PG 13 movie I'll watch what Marvel or DCE movie with PG characters like Spiderman or Superman.

Wolverine, Punisher, Blade, Lobo, etc. are R rated anti-heroes and should be adapted as such.
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 7/17/2013, 4:42 AM
If Jackman's Wolverine is so feral describe to me once when he's ever gone into Berserker rage? Explain it to me. And don't mention X-2 since he was clearly rational in that film when he offed Stryker's force.
TelaVizion
TelaVizion - 7/17/2013, 4:46 AM
he was feral in X3 (forest scene) and in Origins (even tho Tooth handed it to him at the end of first fight)
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 7/17/2013, 4:47 AM
BTW, why is that whenever a buttsore Fox or DCE fanboy's favorite character or film is criticized they always find a way to deflect the criticism by making an irrelevant comparison with what's going on in the MCU.

WTF does Downey's contract have to do with Jackman? Anyone who think Hugh Jackman isn't into this character or the franchise for the money is a huge dolt. His last Wolverine movie that he co-produced was utter PG-13 shit.

And PS - Downey asks for the money because HE EARNED it. He's the one who launched the MCU back when no one wanted to be Iron Man.
TelaVizion
TelaVizion - 7/17/2013, 4:47 AM
the feral and berserker rage are two separate levels for Wolverine.
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 7/17/2013, 4:49 AM
@TelaVizion

Using claws does not equal feral. Being feral means being animalistic, wild and uncivilized. Look it up.

So again, find me an instance where this is the case. Even when he lives in "the wild" for X-Men origins Wolverine is in a [frick]ing cabin. They downplay the fact that he lived like a wolf for years as a wild child.
RamonSuarez
RamonSuarez - 7/17/2013, 4:50 AM
@TelaVizion

Wolverine's berserker rage is when he's most feral. Its him at his most unconstrained and primitive animal self.

I honestly have no idea what to say about that...

Bad bad news. :(

When the news first broke about his solo movies, I thought, Yay, more focus on other characters and Wolvie can do whatever he wants.

BUT, to hear he's the centre of attention in yet another X-Men film, DOFP, is making things even worse. And it's no surprise it'll be: Wolverine Movies, Wolverine and the X-Men and now Wolverine and X-Force.
BANEofExistence
BANEofExistence - 7/17/2013, 5:09 AM
He will most likely be in X-Force and I would like to se him cameo in a solo Magneto films (Maybe wolverine frees a young Eric from a concentration camp?) And if DOFP reboots some x-men films (X-Men the last stand) then we may get a proper x3 or even an "x4"

Id like to see (after DOFP) an "X4" with Apocolypse as the villain and Magneto, Mystique, Blob (Durand), Pyro, Toad, Quicksilver being forced to work alongside the X-Men!

GIVE US X-MEN ORIGINS CYCLOPS WITH MARSDEN!

if the studio gives him another solo movie, I just hope he doesnt get the lead role in the team movies.

He can have a good role in all the team movies, but not the biggest one.

I love that he cares and is committed... but clearly he is misguided if he believes that FOX has, is and will portray this character correctly. If I may, Grif, "shit movies"

He's a decent Wolverine. Honestly I can't think of a person right now who could do a better job. And honestly if he was bad and a lot of people didn't like his Wolverine they would have got rid of him a LONG time ago. For his weight, yeah people Hugh is a little tall but where the hell are you going to find a 5'3 actor lol? Guess they could have used camera magic and make him look shorter but whatever. The only thing I want to see more from Hughs Wolverine is to be more ferocious at times and not make it look cheesy.

IDIOTS still claiming the proper Wolverine Costume from the Comics / 90's Cartoon STILL HAVE NO IMAGINATION!

And it's always the same people complaining! We get it now, you don't think it will work, change the damn record!

And as I've said before, just look at BAT IN THE SUN & the Wolverine Costumes they do on a low budget..... BETTER THAN FOX!
