Whoa! Blacksmith Creates Real WOLVERINE Claws

Hopefully Hugh Jackman's Wolverine claws look better in James Mangold's The Wolverine than computer-generated claws he sported in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But, how about something real? Well, hit the jump to see what Tony Swatton has created.

Every week our master swordsmith and renowned propmaster, Tony Swatton, forges iconic weapons using high-speed belt grinders, scorching furnaces, and pounding power hammers. Then he takes his weapon to the streets to bust up some stuff.





The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), from a script written by Christopher McQuarrie.. The cast includes: Hugh Jackamn (Logan/Wolverine), Svetlana Khodchenkova (Viper), Hiroyuki Sanada (Shingen), Hal Yamanouchi (Yashida), Tao Okamoto (Mariko), Rila Fukushima (Yukio), Brian Tee (Norubo Mori), and Will Yun Lee (Kenuichio Harada/Silver Samurai). The film will claw into theaters July 26, 2013.

Uhhh, .... they would only be real if made from adamantium. Also, they didn't look sharp enough going through all the stuff they did. It needs to be a cleaner cut.

These are awesome and very zombie apocalypse worthy. That is a great blacksmith but without taking anything from him I thought he was going to make some spring loaded claws that pop out the back of his hand (y'know Wolverines claws). Ive seen several versions of these already.

Osideous, have you watched the other movies? Every single one shows them coming from in between his knuckles. As they technically should. How would the strongest metal in the world retract in to his forearms if they came out of the back of his hand. They would have to bend on their own. NOT POSSIBLE. Assuming Wolverine was a real guy, between the knuckles is the only way it would possibly work.

@osideous Yeah, they [frick]ed that up here. I accept no excuses about it. In the comic and every film thus far has them coming out at the top near the knuckle, not between his fingers. Forcing some explanation that it's more realistic coming out of his palms is asinine considering the concept is already ridiculous. I just think they thought no one would notice.
