Why CBMers should cut The Wolverine some slack (and also others CBMs)

Why CBMers should cut The Wolverine some slack (and also others CBMs)

Why are we always whining about the movies that we're gonna see anyway? Why aren't we a little bit more tolerable when it comes to a little tweaks to our beloved comicbook characters? Why aren't we be reasonable with The Wolverine?

So I think that most of the members here are like me, surfing on this site all the time. And if you do, then you all know that The Wolverine is about to come out. While I think we should be cheerful as another movie about our favourite character is made, what I want to talk about here is that a lot of members have a really negative reaction to what they've seen so far.

I want to start with one question to any of you guys, especially ones who have been criticizing those clips lately. Why so much hate? I know that each of you will have your own reasons. But most of the time, what I see are "Claws are not right", "No gore, no blood, no interest", "fake cgi", "fighting scene sucks", "Fox sucks, hence, The Wolverine sucks". And when one come up and go against your opinion, you say that everyone is entitled to his own opinion. But if you only see this as another summer movie (afterall, it's just a movie) then what you have claims above is not valid, at all. Yes, the claws are wrong, it doesn't make the movie sucks, you can't know that until you see the movie. And I think it's disrespectful to the movie makers if you say their movie sucks even when it has not come out yet.
The same can be applied to other complaints: If you say that an good action movie have to be R rated then I think you just forgot about lots of classic movie that didn't cut arms and legs of actors out for your mere admiration. A good movie can attract its audiences by lots of reasons and R rated is not one of them. Besides, a lot of Wolverine comics don't really have crazy bloody images. So I think any guys who say Wolverine movie without limbs and blood sucks can stop criticizing so.
Whether you think CGI is bad, or fighting choreography is boring or whatever else, you can also be a little bit more quiet. Again, you are not the experts, the experts who work their ass off for each of the scene have years of experiences and it's just really disrespectful to them. And all of the things above are not important, the important thing is the story and how it is told. I think the most crazy issue with us Comicbook geeks is that we compare too much. We compare the Mandarin in Ironman 3 with his comicbook version and we got dissapointed. In my opinion, Ironman 3 can be the best Iron man movie, if we accept that Mandarin is just a plot detail for the whole story to run (But of course the problem, a stupid one indeed, of Iron man 3 is that they market the movie in such way that misled fans and audiences; was there no emphasis on a mysterious Mandarin with magical power in the trailers, then I think Trevor is such interesting character). Same goes to Wolverine, don't let a misplaced set of claws ruins your experience with the Wolverine. Say if you watch a normal sequel of a normal movie, do you get angry when they changes a little bit (like nobody against Andrew Garfield's new costume).

My point is that most of us are being so hard on comic book movies. Like any other time, I hope that The Wolverine will be exceptional, or at least good so that no one is gonna curse or criticize the movie makers and the movie itself. Hell, I even hoped Ghost rider movies to be good (but they're not and there's no way to defense them). But at least dedicated man like Hugh deserves it. I also feel bad for other CBMs that was criticized terribly such as Man of Steel. For god sake, even famous people tell the movie sucks. For me, I think that without the ending, Man of Steel won't be any good. The whole movie is like Pow!Pow!Pow! (except for Kevin Cosner's tornado scnene). The ending left us something to think, to wonder about the phylosophy behind the story of Super man. Unless to some, thinking is tiring and Pow!Pow!Pow is fascinating. I can give countless other examples, of course it's my opinion, you might disagree. Like when people said Thor isn't satisfying, well, it wasn't perfect but a meaningful lesson, a lack of little fight doesn't ruin the movie. Or Hulk (2003) was terrible, or really? I think it was much better than the Incredible Hulk (2008), it got actions, it got emotions, it got good CGI (at that time). The thing is that I hadn't read about Hulk before, so maybe I was able to advoid comparing.

So what i'm trying to say is please, be more objective toward these movies, you will do yourself a favor and enjoy them a lot more.

I think it's sad that the general audience sometimes embraces CBM's and go to theaters with an open mind more than we do. We are the fans. We're supposed to show the most support. Why can't we reserve our judgement until after we've seen a film? Sure there's nothing wrong with voicing opinion. But some people on this site seem to have a personal vendetta against DC, Marvel, or Fox films and bash them before they are even released.

From the 2 clips. I don't like the fact that wolvie pops his claws then the 1st thing he does is throw his coat at someone. In the other clip he pops his claws then kicks someone. Use your god damn claws.

@Supes17

Agree 100% on what you said about users on this site hating a film before it's released. I'll be honest that i'm not to excited to see this film mostly because I wasn't a fan of X-3 or Origins and not because of some hatred for Fox. I'll definitely give it a shot but it will most likely be at a matinee price.

I'm tired of people who believe that they can tell others what to think.

There's nothing wrong with having standards. As fans, we ought to be more discerning than the general audience precisely because of the appreciation and understanding we have of the characters and stories.

That's not to say that we should be averse to any and every change; however, said changes should do well by the stories and characters. i.e. TDK Joker, IM J.A.R.V.I.S., Blade, etc.

There's no reason why we can't have both. Accepting anything and everything that Hollywood shoves down our throats is exactly how we end up with failures like MoS, GL, Ghost Rider, Punisher, and whatever else...just take your pick.

Reboot already. Fox should be embarrassed with the caliber of their films compared to Marvel and Sony

im not one of the ppl that whines about a movie and then goes to see it. And nothing about this movie has me interested, being produced by fox is just another detractor. I state my reasons for deciding to not see the movie and i stand by them. This is a movie im not gonna go see

DrDoom should be embarrassed for disliking every CBM that doesn't have the name "MARVEL STUDIOS" written on it

i feel the majority of comic book readers should just stop complaining and read their comic books. watch your cartoons, eat your cereal, and leave the film making to the big kids.

Am not excited because the first one destroyed the origins of a few characters, alter the x-man movie time line, and too cheesy.

We're comicbook fans, of course we are going to be critical
About the movies based on the books we love. I can say
" fox sucks." Because they just slap together movies.
I can say "Brian Singer sucks."because he cant write for
Shit. I can say "the Wolverine will suck" because the
First movie sucked. Comic book fans want an
Accurate telling of their favorite characters. We take it
Personaly when they screw it up.

When fox and Singer put together a CBM that is mostly
accurate, Only then am i willing to cut them any slack.
