X2: X-MEN UNITED Sentinels Concept Art

Film Sketchr has revealed unused sentinel concept art from X2. Compared to what we've seen in the latest film, the designs provided by Guy Hendrix Dyas ("Superman Returns") and Ricardo Delgado ("The Matrix: Reloaded") are very different.

The designs above and below were created by Ricardo Delgado and Guy Hendrix Dyas. "The Sentinels were considered briefly for the X-Men sequel, and I drew up a version to a great collective yawn from everyone involved." said Ricardo Delgado. As you can tell, the models we could have seen in X2  vary greatly when compared to what we saw in Days of Future Past. The sentinels here are much more clunky and robotic, while the models we saw in DOFP are slick and thin. Around the time of X2's release, Bryan Singer, the director of X-Men, X2, and Days of Future Past, told TotalFilm that "We felt, for X2, the concept of giant robots is a difficult sell. But it's definitely something we may have room for in the future.". Simon Kinberg told IF Magazine "There never was a Sentinel script that veered away from the story we ended up with. I have no idea where the rumors came from, but it may have something to do with the Sentinel in the danger room. It also might have something to do with the fact that there was an earlier draft of X-MEN 2 that had Sentinels in it.". Apparently, adding sentinels to the film would have also added another $8 million to the budget of the film, which contributed to the cutting of their appearance.

DOFP sentinels were awesome. The 70s ones were like the classic ones and the future ones were scary as [frick]

The second one looks cool, big & intimidating with correct color scheme it's far superior to the retro Sentinals in the movie.
The movie had skinny toy looking robots..pathetic.
Future ones were good thankfully.

The future Sentinals did have the annoying "face blast" that is a complete rip off of Thor movie Destroyer.
I mean really? Fox,didn't you see that was already done before not so long ago you unoriginal bastards.
Ha..well,imitation is greatest form of flattery I suppose.

I'm confused, shouldn't the thousands of comic books be the concept art? Well the Sentinels in DOFP were absolutely hideous. They weren't Sentinels at all. Huge detraction from a good movie.

For the time these would not have been that bad. Its wierd how we see them now for a movie almost 10 years ago, and we can think what could've been...`

Who cares they had face blasts? I mean, just because Destroyer did dosen't mean other villians cant. Were gonna run outta powers to be used in the movies if thats the case.
