Bryan Singer Will Indeed Helm X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Revealing that the new film will focus on the X-Men: First Class cast, a new report has emerged confirming the return of Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer for X-Men: Apocalypse. Check it out!

After he debuted the X-Men franchise in 2000 and followed up with its 2003 sequel, Bryan Singer is of course returning to the director's chair for next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. And while Singer made the big announcement last week that an X-Men: Apocalypse is coming in May of 2016, his concise Twitter post failed to mention if he'd be behind the camera again or just serving as a producer, which he's done for X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class. Well, according to Vulture's reliable sources, Bryan Singer will indeed direct Apocalypse, which will be the fifth X-Men installment and a “direct sequel set up” in the closing moment of Days of Future Past. Also, while the 2014 movie mixes the franchise's original actors with the First Class gang, the 2016 sequel is “intended to focus strictly on the younger James McAvoy-Michael Fassbender cast.”

This news seems a little inconsistent with X-Men: Apocalypse rumors that cropped up over the weekend which suggested that the new film would include mutants from both the past and present timelines. But even with Apocalypse focusing “strictly” on the X-Men: First Class incarnation of the characters, appearances by some of the original or “present-time” actors shouldn't exactly be ruled out; especially since we don't know all of what happens in Days of Future Past. What do you think?

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past -- to save our future. X-Men: Days of Future Past has wrapped filming, and stars Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender,, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing, Anna Paquin, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Ellen Page & Booboo Stewart. Bryan Singer directs the film in theaters May 23, 2014!

@ JerryBlake

I actually enjoyed X Men First Class and I will end up enjoying DOFP from the looks of it.

What kills me about Singer is that he butchers the characters and storylines so baddddd!

Can't wait to see how Fox butchers one of the biggest mutants in X-men history. The fact that the first class cast will be the main focus already shows Apocalypse will be gimped to a certain degree.

Well I guess I'll wait and see how this one will turn out, not sure about that Apocalypse/Magneto thing though!

Why did it have to be the X-Men franchise? Why couldn't they give him Fantastic Four or something. Please give me back my X-Men and leave Onslaught-pocalypse out of it and don't you DARE go near Cable or X-Force...

I bet the ending of dofp makes the original series timeline disappear allowing the new events in the first class timeline be the dominating one and they can continue on with this groups story since they are younger. Also this way they can do storylines thatbwere written in say the 70s or 80s and get to do them in time context

@ JerryBlake

I myself would love to see ArcAngel in the next movie but that will not happen, well maybe but I am not sure how they will pick up form the messed up timeline from X Men Last Stand to X Men First Class and now DOFP!!!!! So much time has passed to address what has happened to Angel

Anyways you know the next movie will be all about Wolverine again!!!!!!!

jerryblake - 12/9/2013, 7:37 AM
@NateGrey

you don't want X-Men go back to Marvel. Trust me

@Joe

yeah, still can't forgive Singer and Hayter how they butchered Sabretooth.

As someone who has looved the X-Films that Singer has been involved in, I'm quite happy to see this news.

I can definitely understand people's gripes about Singer's changes to the X-Men mythos though...

I still enjoy his films, and I'm pumped for DOFP, Apocalypse, X-Force, and the Wolverine sequel.

But I really hope they fix the continuity problems and begin to create a more cohesive universe based on the First Class characters.

If you introduce Dazzler then you need to introduce Long shot and Mojo! I would not mind seeing that!

I hope that rumor was actually just Magneto becoming one of his horsemen instead of him actually being Apocalypse.
TonyChu
TonyChu - 12/9/2013, 7:51 AM
Fox basically [frick]ed over Xmen Days of Futures Past and announced Xmen Apocalypse just because they wanted to compete in last weeks huge comic book news week last week. I don't see why you would announce this movie years ahead before DOFP is even out. Look at the Avengers for instance, they did not announce Thanos before the movie came out and rather allowed the audience in for a nice surprise towards the end. And I pray to God that rumored post credit scene is not true because that proves they know nothing of Apocalypse.
DefcoN
DefcoN - 12/9/2013, 7:52 AM
This is getting really confusing. If DOFP is supposed to lead into the original X-men trilogy and correct some continuity errors, why would you put Apocalypse with the younger cast and not the older? Are you telling me that the Prof. X, Magneto, Mystique, etc we saw in the 2000 movies managed to survive a major event with Apocalypse and it was never ever mentioned??
Dmon
Dmon - 12/9/2013, 7:52 AM
Hey remember when that gay porn star was seen coming out of Singer's trailer. Also I think I found out why Singer is so obsessed with Wolverine:

So true I am big Legend of Zelda fan and I thought their timeline was really confusing to say the least!
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 12/9/2013, 7:56 AM
@Def that's because it didn't happen in that timeline. The timeline will be different because the events will be changed in the past, which affects the events we saw in the original X-men movies.
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 12/9/2013, 7:57 AM
Hey maybe they can address what happened to Toad?
