Since The Wolverine's (sub par) ending, many fans have speculated as to what's the story behind Wolverine and his claws; are they just doing their own thing? Now, X-Men: Days of Future Past director, Bryan Singer, has addressed the rumours, here's what Singer told Empire Magazine:

Director Bryan Singer explains that Magneto’s ability to manipulate metal might have something to do with it. The Master Of Magnetism could, perhaps, “reconstitute the adamantium claws… [Wolverine] has a different relationship with Magneto, and perhaps Magneto could forge them

So it looks like it's a plus one to the fans, with Magneto being the most popular option up to now. What do you think of Magneto's adamantium manipulation? Sign off your thoughts below.

IDK, I can think of better ways of getting the claws back.

And how about young Charles being able to stand and walk?!?

I'd like to see mags pull his adamantium out rather than put it in.. William Stryker IS in this flick though so I think singer is just trying to throw us off the scent.. (shrugs)

Think it was everyone's guess Magneto forges it for him

I'm too pissed to even care after the recent rumour of a possible Channing Tatum/Gambit movie....

God I hate Singer and Shuler Donner

Post news not opinions! (Sub par)? I liked The Wolverine more than Man of Steel or Thor 2 and Iron Man 3.

there was like an inch of adamantium still on his claws at the end of the wolverine that is exposed when his claws are out, so its not being put in to his by Magneto at least. i doubt they will show it happen, it will just get mentioned in passing when wolverine and magneto are arguing about something i bet.

You just put way more thought into it than Singer ever will.

Pretty sure the movie won't bother with an explanation. The movie will keep some level of canon with X-Men, X2 & First Class and whatever Singer chooses from The Last Stand. Jackman is probably the only reason there are bone claws in the 70s.

That's why it's in brackets! I liked the Wolverine too, not as much as Thor though, that shit owned. I just thought it fell of the wayside by the 3rd act. Still holds the record for greatest after credits scene

....... what an F'n idiot. I hate Singer. He ruined X-men movies for me. I have not seen the last Wolverine solo outing and I wont see any future movies either. And won't this once again mess up the timeline and continuity once again.

The only thing that sounds kind of cool, is if it's true that Wolverine is stuck in his past's body, then he will be in a constent state of time loop never getting old and living forever constintly reliving his own personal hell. He's in his past body, gets to the future, jumps back in time, he's in his past's body, gets to the future, jumps back in time, ect.

Sounds to me like a clever way of covering up the fact that he doesn't care about continuity or what other directors did in other X-MEN movies. I remember when Mark Miller took over as "consultant" for FOX's Marvel rights he told us that The Wolverine would be the first in a new shared X-MEN universe. We are now just two movies in, and Bryan Singer is being Bryan Singer and ignoring events established in previous films and we haven't heard a single quote from Miller recently.

@CaptainComicBook Or, it's just an obvious solution when you have someone with metal in his body and another person who can manipulate metal.
CaptainComicBook
CaptainComicBook - 1/30/2014, 10:25 AM
@newhire, if the fact that he has metal claws ins't addressed in DOFP then it's an explanation he cooked up after the fact to cover for the continuity error. If it is, I rescind my statement, but something tells me that if it was explained in the movie then Singer would say something like "Just wait and see" rather than reveal an event from the movie.

@eddie. Common sense and the ability to recognize patterns. Continuity has not ever been considered in the X-Men movies. Why would things change now?

I think that the whole Silver Samurai chopping off his claws was an unnecessary plot point and complication. They showed his bone claws in the beginning, that should've been enough

thejon93rd - 1/30/2014, 10:39 AM
And what about the William Stryker problem? How was he 50 years old in the 60s (in X-Men: First Class)? How is he about 30 years old in Days of Future Past? How was he 50 or 60 years old in X2? So much confusion around that, that's my biggest problem with the new film thus far (though it started with First Class somehow making Stryker the exact same age he was in X2, and the worst offence was that he had no reason to be in that film in the first place... besides being an annoyance). Hopefully they elaborate on that too (but I doubt that there will be an explanation).

If it is true that when wolverine goes back in time that he is his younger self then he would have his claws in the past. Also he could find a way to warn his younger self about losing his claws so that it never happens in the future.
MisterHolmes
MisterHolmes - 1/30/2014, 10:50 AM
@Darriann, No bc in the trailer its his mind that goes back, bassiaclly he is his younger self, he goes back into his younger body, so theres still only 1 wolverine

Everyone wants an explanation for how things are going to happen. (claws, Xavier walking) and as soon as you see a picture people freak out and right the movie off, theres this thing people did before the internet which explained the questions they had about movie trailers and pics, it was called "Going to see the Movie" ever think that might explain everything they [frick]ed up in the previous movies? Give it a chance and if they dont solve anything with this time travel Xmen movie, then you can say, theres no hope in the continuity. Everyone wanted the mistakes fixed, well here you go, a movie that involves time travel to hopefully fix them.
