According to IGN, FOX's adaptation of the Joe Hill comic book of the same name hasn't been picked up for the fall season. Locke & Key tells the story of a family who suffers a horrible tragedy and then moves to their old home, where strange, supernatural occurrences take place.

Locke & Key was executive produced by Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and written by Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' Josh Friedman. It was set to star Young Justice's Jesse McCartney and Terminator 3's Nick Stahl as well.

This news comes right on the heels of the cancellation of Fox's other comic book based series, The Human Target. Earlier in the week, the possibility of NBC's Wonder Woman pilot making it to our screens was also in question. Locke & Key is still being shopped around to other networks and there might still be hope for this series to see the light of day.

Are you disappointed you won't get to see Fox's Locke & Key this Fall?

leave it to fox to pass on a show that would actually work. It's probably for the best. Locke and key would be better on hbo or showtime. Without restrctions. Joe hill's the man. Oh yeah....first.

this was a brutal week for bubble shows on FOX...they wiped out many of them and are way too focused on Reality shows

Apparently Fox really liked the way it was shot, but were worried if it would work as a series. The comic book currently only has 23 issues, and just one season would be 22 episodes, so there isn't enough material.

Rumor has it they contemplated making it an even miniseries or a limited series, but that would be too costly, so they passed.

Anyway, this show would be better on FX.With the way the comic is set up, each arc containing 2 six issue miniseries, fits perfectly with cable. Each storyarc has 12 issues and each season has 12/13 episodes.

They already have enough material for 2 seasons.

We still have Powers and Chew to possibly look forward to, and Marvel will be announcing their live action projects later on this year.

Cancelling of Human Target was a pretty good guess that this show wasn't going to get picked up. I think they would have been partnered together.

I would like to see SyFy Network pick up sci fi/commic book shows when they are cancelled by a major network.
