Harrison Ford On Lucas's Crazy Indiana Jones 5 Idea

Lets hear George's Crazy idea.

I keep hoping that maybe, if we’re all very still and very quiet, George Lucas will forget that Indiana Jones 4 made a lot of money and abandon his plans to make a fifth one. So far, that strategy isn’t working but if you’re with me, you might want to plug your ears, close your eyes, and click over to some other story… just to let Lucas know you mean business.

George Lucas is apparently still hard at work on Indiana Jones 5 plans and what’s more Harrison Ford says that they’re all “very interested in making another.” Et tu Steven Spielberg? Ford drops hints about what Lucas might be up to in an interview with MTV where when addressing what he calls Lucas’ “outrageous” idea for the sequel he says, “Some of the best ideas are crazy ideas, you know? Well-wrought, well-manipulated.” And some of the worst ideas are crazy ideas too. Like that crazy idea Lucas had for the last movie, you know the one with the nuke-proof fridge and those horrible aliens? I think we’ve had enough of George’s “crazy ideas”, haven’t we?

But the thing Ford seems most excited about is advancing the character forward. I’m not sure what the next step is for Indy, I mean all that’s really left is death isn’t it? But he says, “I think it would be interesting to deepen the relationship between he and his son [Mutt, played by Shia LaBeouf] and play on that relationship. ... It's full of opportunity. The series is full of opportunity.” Sounds like it’s full of more pain and suffering for Indiana Jones fans, to me.

Does anyone ever wonder what happened to Short Round from Temple of Doom? Bring him back in the 5th. "You abandon me Doctah Jones! Now you pay, you pay!" Could be funny and you know that Data kid needs the work.

The last one wasn't great, but it wasn't as awful as purists make it out to be. I don't get why people are so pissed about the 'nuke the fridge' scene. Sure, when I saw it I knew it was a physical imossiblity, but I also laughed with excitement at the idea because *shock/awe/gasp* it was fun. Mutt playing Tarzan with the apes, silly, but fun. Now I realize and agree a certain level of seriousness is necessary to maintain the illusionary world in which Indy exists, but c'mon, have some imagination and give a small bit of leeway to the guy who created the character AND the Star Wars universe... just a small bit.

NOTE to George Lucas: George, I love most of your work, but do me a big up right now, make the 5th Indy the best of them all if it must be made. I say this mostly because I'm sick of hearing the pissing and moaning about the inconsistencies of the 4th.

I remember when the 4th one had only been confirmed that it was going to be made and no one knew what the story would be and these prospective script ideas were surfacing. I personally liked the idea of a trek to Atlantis, so, something revolving that idea would be cool by me. Imagine Indy's last adventure in a role similar to the one Sean Connery played in the franchise to his own son, and what an Epic adventure of discovery Atlantis would be in closing it all out.

I liked INDY 4, wasn't great but great to see it again on the big screen!

But come on enough LUCAS, we want that [frick]ing STAR WARS TV show done, man originally that was suppose to start last year!!!

[frick] INDY 5 do the sequels to the original saga, with HAMIL (Old LUKE) and co! PARTS 7, 8 & 9!!!

Now that would be [frick]ing amazing!!!

And no more PHANTOM MEANACE sh1T!

The funny thing is, I think one thing that made the 4th Indie feel hollow was that they avoided the topic the original 3 had been about; Religion.

No, I'm not going off on a christianesse rant or something, but think of it. Each film dealt with the quest for a religious artifact, and since spiritual, religious, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, agnostic, or atheist, or a believer that all paths lead to god, whatever we believe now, almost all of us had exposure to one religion or another growing up. Because of that those movies did strike some form of cord from that. It instills a sense of wonder in a way a feeling of nostalgia or harkened back to an age where you really believed in things.

Judaism, Hinduism, and Christianity have been dealt with and I guess Crystal Skull was an attempt at a version of the new age movement maybe? I don't know. Where any aliens names Xenu on board the ship at the end? This leaves a couple major religions left Buddhism and Islam. I have no doubt however they will not touch Islam with a ten foot pole, just due to the touchy nature of the subject and if one little note is put out of place the PC crowd would scream foul from on high. Forget the fact that “Temple,” really mauled the Hindi traditions, and none of them paid very close attention to the religion in them or let it interfere with the story, the same trick wouldn't fly in this day and age.

In the end I think without the sense of wonderment or quest in a physical or spiritual sense Indie will continue to ring hollow, but I think the day in which rightly or wrongly people were relaxed enough to allow someone beliefs to be edited or rearranged for the screen to make a better story are gone as well. In the end I think Indie may have outlived his era, and man, am I sad to say that.

oh great. Here we go. *rolls eyes*

Why can't this clown stop. He's already got more money than God... The story telling part of his brain has run out of gas and everybody knows it but him.

Do you guys really want to see Shia LaDouche as the new Indy?? Cause that's exactly where they are headed.

"Mutt" Jones with his switchblade comb swinging throught the jungle like Tarzan with a bunch of monkeys. The apple has fallen SO FAR ffromt eh tree that it's not even an apple anymore. It's a freaking... mock orange... hedge apple.. bah humbug

i would pay as much money as it cost to sit down with george lucas for an hour or two and just hear the things that he thinks are 'cool'...
the list would probably end up being something like this:
1- Aliens
2- The Politics of aliens
3- Motorcycles
4- Cartoon Bears
5- The Jungle
6- pissing people off
7- The 60's
8- Steven Spielberg's beard
9- His own beard
10- 'Lisa Frank' stuff
11- Harrison Ford

@Myth I'm with you I liked the 4th film.

I really want to see a 5th. I love the Jones films. I think the lost city of Atantis would be awesome and just clone the holy grail saga. If they want Shilo to pick up the reins I think he needs to work on his character a bit. There are no greaser archeologists through out the history of time...

Harrison Ford is so old, he's likely to break his rotator cup cracking that whip.

I wanted to see the 4th, but then i heard it was about some aliens and decided against it. Aliens don't belong in Indy's universe of Magical stones and religious artifacts. It's an action/adventure series not Sci-Fi
