INDIANA JONES 5 Star Harrison Ford Suffers Shoulder Injury While Rehearsing Fight Scene

Though the extent of the injury is not known, Harrison Ford has reportedly hurt his shoulder while shooting a fight scene for James Mangold's Indiana Jones 5. Production is expected to continue, however.

The fifth Indiana Jones movie has been filming for the past couple of weeks in the U.K., but production may have now hit a setback, as Deadline reports that star Harrison Ford has been injured while rehearsing a fight scene.

Disney confirms: "In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks."

It sounds like director James Mangold intends to film around Ford until the extent of his injury can be determined, but if it turns out that the 78-year-old actor is required to take some time off to recover, it could obviously end up having a significant impact on the shoot. We'll keep you guys updated.

The story is still under wraps, but recently leaked plot details claim that the movie will be set in the 1960s during the space race (Operation Paperclip?), with Dr. Jones once again coming up against his favorite foes. Mads Mikkelsen is believed to be playing the villain (shocking, we know), and his character is described as "a Nazi scientist enlisted into NASA by the United States government to work on the space agency’s moon landing initiative."

Indiana Jones 5 will also star Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther). Logan director James Mangold is taking the helm, and it's also been confirmed that John Williams will return as composer. Kathleen Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers.

Indy 5 will whip into theaters July 29, 2022.

I expect one of these reports with Keaton taking up the Batman mantle again. That's why the hero gig is a young person's game. The studio's insurance for this film was probably already high and just doubled.

He’s 78. At that age injuries are an inevitability. Hopefully he gets well soon.

Ford's almost 20 years older now than Connery was playing his dad in The Last Crusade. Maybe just don't give Indy physically demanding fight scenes this time?

Harrison Ford is doing fight scenes at 78!

All jokes aside, hope he is okay and heals up soon for his last go as Indy.

If they ever made a Batman Beyond live action movie, I could see Ford as the older Bruce.

How many injuries has he sustained in his life?

@MasterMix - He did get his leg/foot crushed by the Millennium Falcon door making TFA, so that's one there. Multiple injuries in the original Indy/Star Wars trilogies.

@Timerider84 - Plus real life accidents like crashing his plane. People say Tom Cruise is lucky to be alive, but I think Ford is just as fortunate.

Getting insurance for Ford on this movie must've been a nightmare.

Never understood why they want to make this movie

The last one was not good and didn't make much money

But to bring back a close to 80 year old to play an action hero is just odd to me

@WakandaTech - I mean, I didn't want this either, but 750 million in a pre marvel and pre avatar world is stoinks kind of money.

and to release it the same day and put it up against The Rock as Black Adam and the Justice Society seems extremely stupid to me
