Tom Cruise Chats About the Future of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL was the biggest moneymaker of the franchise thus far... So what's next? Does the Crazed Couch Jumper want to end the series and go out on a high note?

Speaking with Total Film Magazine, Tom Cruise talked about the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE possibilities. With the latest installment, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL, having earned so much sweet monetary goodness that it's Cruise's highest grossing film to date, you wouldn't think we'd have too long of a wait for MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5.

On the topic of Ghost Protocol's success, Cruise stated:

“Seeing an audience respond… to have that experience is really wonderful. I started Mission: Impossible hoping I could make many of them. It’s a character that I can grow with. At that time it was the most expensive film in the history of Paramount Pictures, and the first film I was producing."

On the future of the M:I franchise:

“It’s been pretty exciting... I’ll make as many as people want to see, because they’re very challenging, and so much fun to make. We’re already working on different images. Talking conceptually. I love travelling around promoting different movies because I’m always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways… coming up with different sequences.”

So, there you go - looks like there'll be no shortage of impossible missions for the foreseeable future. As long as the series maintains the high quality of the last two installments, that should make action movie fans very happy, indeed.

The first is a decent movie but the 3rd and 4th are the best. I hope they keep making them with creative directors like Abrams and Bird.

@imnotahero

No offense, but the third sucked. I'm glad he made protocol. Hopefully he finds a solid young actor to pass it along to. Then he could become like M in the Bond series, but you already know him so it would be like Brosnan being M.

Tom Cruise is a nutjob, but I have enjoyed the entire series, and wouldn't be upset to see more, provided they continue with the quality. It's a fun series!

@Tony93 The reason you didn't like the second one is cause it's terrible.

Ghost protocol was brilliant as long as he can still do the stunts i'm for atleast a couple more filmed back to back. If Brad Birds around the better. Would love Bird to direct something for marvel considering his disney ties. Perhaps a Captain America film?
