First, let me say that this is no way a dis or put down to anyone! This is just one man's opinion.
Yes, I am guilty of this too. I am talking about bashing comic book movies that are not true to their source material. I remember sitting in front of my television when I was younger (I'm going to date myself now) watching Spider-Man on the Electric Company, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Batman, and all those shows growing up, and thinking to myself wow how cool would it be if these were made into movies? Then it happened. Slowly, but surely they started to make them into movies. At that time I didn't care if they stuck to the source material as much, because I thought it was just cool they made it.
Now we look at the movies that have rolled out I'll say from the early 90's to today, and everyone seems to have a problem with them. "They didn't do the origin right. They didn't cast it right. The robots sucked. The Director sucked," and so on. But stop and think about it for a second: when you were growing up did you not think the same way I did? Now like I have said yes, I am also guilty of bashing movies about one thing or another; however, at least they are movies and not just television series or comic books any more.
We all remember reading the comic books growing up and truly hold that core material with us, but cut the studios some slack because it’s not always the way that it was in the book. The technology that we have today could not have brought us Transformers, Ghost Rider, or even Green Lantern.
The main thing I want you to stop and think about is this:
1) We all love comic books.
2) We all love the movies (more or less).
3) No matter what we will all go pay to see the movie just because it was a comic book to start.
If you stop and think about it the comic book companies are just returning the kindness that we the fans have shown them over the years by buying the books and turning them into feature films for not just us but our kids to enjoy as well.
As I stated in the beginning, this article is in NO WAY a bashing to anyone it's just my opinion.
