Weird But True: Seattle Superhero Blocks Kick With Nose!

That's right ComicBookMovie fans, Seattle Superhero Phoenix Jones (aka: The Guardian of Seattle) just received a reality check in the form of being the proud new recipient of a broken nose!

Since Kick Ass this is happening more and more.

You would think after watching an actor get shot and beat to near death (Kick Ass) would detour any Spandex crime fighting by a random citizen in real life. But it didn't and now we have guys out there like Phoenix Jones. Phoenix Jones is one crazy guy but he's got nuts the size of two 1 ton wrecking balls, yet, the Man of Steel he is not.

This from the SeattlePI:

'One of Seattle's self-proclaimed super heroes had his nose broken and was threatened at gunpoint Saturday, prompting police to again ask that he and others stop with the costumes and call 911.'

Notice the beginning of the quote said 'One of'. Does this mean there are more Seattle Super Heroes waiting in the wings? Is this the first of a long line of broken noses and pistol whipped Petes?

Phoenix Jones is having none of the 'Call 911' talk, last week on 'Good Morning America' Jones said calling 911 was like waving a white flag, in fact Phoenix had this to say in response:

"I endanger my life with a reason and a purpose."

Phoenix went on to say something that rings true to many defenseless victims of crime:

"If police aren't here, criminals feel free to run wild in my city," he continued. "And I'm not going to stand for it."

To which Seattle PD responded:

"Does Superman get his ass kicked?" one detective asked. "These people should not be called super heroes."



Hell yes they should! Forget about Team Edward or Team Jacob, I pick Team Phoenix! I wonder if the thugs and hoodlums of Seattle sit in fear saying 'Better not jack that old lady or The Guardian will come %^&* you up?' I serioulsy doubt it but I support Phoenix Jones!

Sad to say but if he keeps it up, he will end up dead. Bad guys have no reserve for using leathal force. Someone will shoot him in the face and think he is cool for doing it.

This guy has his heart in the right place, but man it's a damn shame if he dies for this. aren't there other, less confrontational ways, he could help his community? hope he finds one that works for him; the world needs more good people in it, not less.

There are tons of these guys. I want to start training them. Handcuff Procedures, Pepper Spray, Police Baton/PR24 techniques, Barehanded Self Defense and martial Arts, Knife Techniques/Disarms, tactical insertion, commonsense, and conditioning and escape methods.

I would love to train these guys in all these techniques. If they could catch a plane down to South Florida I would be willing to train them. It is for there own safety, could increase there chance for survival.

I don't see anything wrong with this dude. As for everybody talking about how dangerous it is, your absolutely right, it is. However, if this dude gets himself killed doing something he thinks is good ( and who knows how many people he has helped while doing this) Then so be it.

He could get killed doing this, he could also get killed driving in his car. He can be killed doing anything just like any of us.

And to be clear, no, I have no desire to follow in his footsteps. I'm just saying if he can save a person or two before he goes down, more power to him.

They've got more Real-Life Superheros there then anywhere else. This guy's got a good idea with the vest and knife plating but I think add he should add a metal helmet (a thick one like doctor destiny's) too, stop those nasty bullets then and there! and maybe throw in neck gaurd for some added knife protection . . .a

Ok I have to say at first I was worried because I thought it was just this guy by himself, but after learning there are more of them. These guys have there own little superhero gang. It's actually kinda scary.

I come from family of police officers and am waiting to get on Chicago PD, so I have exposure to 'crime fighting' but seriously... "Does Superman get his ass kicked?" has to be the FINNIEST clip from a cop EVER. AWESOME. 'The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.' ... NOT RUNNIGN AROUND WITH STAB PLATES GETTING YOUR ASS KICKED. Anybody remember the end of Batman Begins?!?! I watched it last night... "What about ESCALATION???...and you're running around in a mask jumping off rooftops" Give it time before some whack job criminals take a cue. It's coming, wait for it.

you seem like a smart guy so to be clear, i'm not trying to pick a fight..........but I disagree with your logic. putting on a costume and going out to FIND trouble is not the same inherent risk factor as driving a car. It's all about the odds for the circumstances you put yourselves in, you know?

I don't want to oversimplify, or be weirdly morbid....... but let's say he gets brain damage doing this next year, and is a vegetable for life. or! he volunteers in soup kitchens and organizing neighborhood watch programs for the next 30 years. seems to me the greater value, but less publicity and adrenaline appeal, is the second one. And in the real world? i think those are the solutions for positive civic-minded folks.

If he saves one innocent person he has done as much good as serving soup in a soupline every day for 30 years IMO.

I like the sentiment, very guardian angels, but you either need to go one of 3 ways:
a)bake sale organiser/litter pick co-ordinator.
b)bounty hunter/private security/police force/private detective.
c)vigilante thug (probably with weapons, lots of them and thus criminal too.) such as the gangs in Northern Ireland who police their own towns and cities dishing out beatings and kneecappings to sex offenders, thieves and drug dealers (although this is often based on missing out on the drug business or religious prejudice.)

Do his actions make it more likely that OTHERS (not the perpetrators) will get hurt? Is even if his actions make it less likely, do they make it harder to prosecute such that there could be more future recurrence? It all full of pros and cons. These are the questions you have to ask.

One way or the other, he should probably call 911.

@weneedrevelation - dude, Hawks isn't saying nothing is going to happen to this guy, he's just saying its this guys choice to do this. I agree, if you throw in there that his doing this doesn't increase the danger of others getting hurt.
