Big Hero 6 not only won the weekend but it also took the top spot on Veterans Day last Tuesday. It got an impressive increase of the 103.7% from Monday for a total of $10.5 million on the holiday, making it the second highest Veterans Day in a non-weekend day, only behind The Incredibles on 2004 ($11 million on a Thursday). It is also the third highest non-weekend day of the year only behind GOTG´s first Monday and Tuesday.
Interstellar landed on second spot with $6.9 million, a 30.8% increase from Monday only above Ouija´s 18.2% on the top 15. But don´t be mistaken, the latest Nolan movie is doing great thanks to an impressive overseas haul of $82.9 million in it´s first weekend for a total of $144.7 million worldwide. It is expected to end it´s domestic run with over $160 million.
Finally here are some box office updates on movies that have been previously reported on CBM:
Transformers: Age of Extinction ended it´s run with $1,087 million, making it the tenth highest grossing movie of all time, ahead of The Dark Knight Rises ($1,084 million). Guardians of the Galaxy has $768 million and will probably end around 770 million. X-Men: DOFP finished with $746 million and while TMNT still has a couple weeks more on China as of today it has a total of $464.2 million. You can see the rest of the movies on the chart above.
