Choices for a Hypothetical Hulk Vs., Volume 2

Choices for a Hypothetical Hulk Vs., Volume 2

If there was a "Hulk Vs, Vol. 2," which 2 characters should the big guy fight?

Editorial Opinion

First off, a clarification: This editorial is merely a thought exercise. As far as I know, Marvel has NOT announced another Hulk Vs. movie.

That said, an adult child and his 9-year-old son can dream, right? We enjoyed the first Hulk Vs. movie so much that we often mention other characters who would make good candidates for another volume. I'd like to share my thoughts as well as get your picks. In case anyone doesn't know, "Hulk Vs." includes 2 features, "Hulk Vs. Wolverine" and "Hulk Vs. Thor." I can't even imagine anyone on here doesn't know that, but hey, you never know.

1st Character:
I think you've got to go with an obvious pick, some familiar character that we're all sort of expecting. "Hulk Vs." really has 2 of these, Wolvie & Thor.

Candidates: Namor, the Thing, Juggernaut, Rhino, Iron Man as Hulkbuster, or perhaps a group: Fantastic Four, some of the X-Men, etc. We all know this list could go on and on, so I'll stop.

My pick: Namor - if he's in or near his element, he's one mighty king!

2nd Character:
Here's where I'd like to see a more obscure character for the second feature. What lesser-known would make for a cool 45-minute feature? Or if they beefed up the time a bit from "Hulk Vs.", perhaps even 65 minutes or so?

Candidates: Alpha Flight, Bi-Beast, Wendigo, Man-Thing, Hercules, Mole Man & his minions, Adam Warlock, the Inhumans, the Super-Skrull, the Wrecking Crew, and so on.

My Pick: Man-Thing - can't you picture Hulk punching a hole in his stomach, then getting frustrated when it simply grows back good as new?

For the record, my son's picks are Namor and Wendigo. Can't argue that! I'm sure some readers will think, "cool!", while others ask, "Man-Thing?" That's why I'd like to hear your picks. If you could say, "Hey Marvel, make volume 2 and include these 2 characters," whom would you nominate? I know SEVERAL characters are under the cruel thumb of Sony, Fox, and so on, and couldn't really happen, but what if they could? I look forward to your thoughts.

cool article!!!! i loved Hulk Vs. and would love a sequel!

out of your first group i would like to see him go up against Juggernaut. but Namor and The Thing are strong picks also.

out of your second list, i'd go with Man-Thing also. love me some classic Man-Thing. and i never thought about that, but man its gotta piss off hulk to punch holes in him, but it keeps growing back, lol!

or possibly even Omega Flight! then we could get our Beta Ray Bill fix, and have US Agent and the rest!

dellamorte,

"Planet Hulk" has done well in sales, and Hulk is the only A-List character in it. So A Hulk Vs. Namor/Man-Thing has a built-in sales guarantee - Hulk!

That said, you're probably correct that Marvel wouldn't select Man-Thing. But who knows? ALL the comic fans would buy it, and perhaps more of the old school fans would be interested. Let me dream lol.

Oh and Dr. Strange would be VERY cool! I wasn't even thinking along those lines. Good call.

Corndogburglar,

Omega Flight would be so cool. A neat list characters to take on the big guy. Is Sasquatch still around? He'd bring some brawn!

since Fox robbed us of an AWESOME sequence in Planet Hulk, i think there should be a Hulk Vs Silver Surfer involved.
and as a second feature, Hulk Vs Moon Knight!
shortest feature ever!
Moon Knight: "Take your best shot! I work through pain!"
Hulk: FLICK!!!!!!!
end movie.

yeah, sasquatch is part of omega flight! him, shaman's daughter (who has the same powers), us agent, beta ray bill, Arachnid (the former black and white Spiderwoman) and the new vindicator. it would rock!

I would say Blade for part 1.

The story could be that Hulk finds his way into Blade territory and a gang of vampires want to turn him and Blade finds that he needs to stop Hulk before the leader of the vampires gets word of Hulk and his strength.

Blade would be cool to see shoot and slice and jump around Hulk.

Part 2: Captain America

Captain America would be told by Nick Furry and S.H.I.E.L.D. to go after Hulk after Wolverine failed to kill him. Captain America knows its wrong but Furry makes it sound like Hulk will kill innocent people if he gets too angry. After a lot of Bad Ass fights Captain America would meet Bruce banner who tells him that Hydra is using him to destroy targets for them. Captain America and Hulk would then fight to take down Hydra.

Whatever it is i hope Marvel does another one. Hulk vs. was the best thing to come out of Marvel Animated movies to date.

I don't see how Hulk fighting a bunch of lower level (power wise) guys could really be that interesting. Can't he just take out Cap, Spidey and Punisher with one good thunder clap? I would much rather see him fight Juggernaut or maybe even Superman!!! Ok, so the DCU cross over may be a bit far fetched, but tell me you wouldn't want to see that?

Captain America vs. Hulk would be pretty awesome, the scene from the Ultimates was amazing.

and my second would probably be hulk vs. the FF

I need to see the HULK VS SENTRY... I would be more than happy to see him fight NAMOR or better yet, send him up against the BLACK PANTHER... It would be the perfect excuse and opportunity for the Americans to get into Wakanda.

character like Cap, Spidey, and iron man would get trounced by hulk one on one, no problem. the only reason wolvie can stand up to him is because of his healing factor. like mclovin' said, one good smack and they're finished.

sure cap would be able to flip around him and everything, but he wouldn't be able to hurt him. same with spidey, and black panther. Iron Man with Hulkbuster armor could last for a couple minutes, but even that isn't a real fight. just look at World War Hulk if you don't believe that.

it would need to be a bruiser, or a team. or someone like Doc Strange, who could just banish to another realm, lol.

the hulk is nearly unbeatable one on one against ANY of the earthbound heroes. he wins against almost anyone.

oh awesome i want a 'Hulk vs 2' so bad! it should be 2 of any of these:

Hulk vs Doom
Hulk vs Iron Man
Hulk vs Fantastic Four
Hulk vs X-men

Della@ this is animation dude - the 'hulk vs' movies can take place at any time during marvel continuity.

Hulk vs Wolverine - took place before wolverine even joined the x-men- but technically within marvel cannon that would be after Hulk joined the avengers. (Avengers debut was in the 60's Wolverine's was in the 70's)

Hulk vs Thor - Thor knew hulk and banner and spoke to him as him they had been teammates and friends once - they were. so that movie took place after an avengers team had already be formed.

So technically both of the 'Hulk Vs' films took place after the formation of the avengers. their animated movies have nothing to do with their feature films - just look at the iron man movie where he battled Mandarin.

these are all good thoughts. i do tend to think that some of our favorite heroes (in my case cap) just couldn't feasibly hang with hulk in a fight. that's sort of why i suggested man-thing - he can be a big brawler, but there's also magic involved that repairs damage done to him (at least in the classic stories).

@futurefoe - i actually like the idea of iron man if it involves the hulkbuster armor! and possibly some necessary help from war machine.

omega flight is sounding really good right now. that story wouldn't interfere with the movies as far as i can tell.

oh and i can't believe i got a thumbs down lol. who on this site doesn't like the idea of sharing what characters you'd like to see in a hulk vs. vol. 2!?! oh well, i've heard some people don't even like ice cream

i just don't see how hulk vs. cap would work. that fight wouldn't feasibly last too long. perhaps a handful of the avengers against hulk, now that plus a story would work.

but silver surfer vs. hulk would be prime!

@ foxfan

yeah man, the only time hulk really ever loses is if he's fighting multiple people. back in the day, he fought, Iron Man, Hercules, Thor, Dr. Strange, and Wonder Man at the same time, but even then he only lost because Strange banished him to another Plane.

Cap wouldn't last too long against Hulk...considering Cap wouldn't even be able to hurt him. same goes for almost anyone else. Iron Man can hang for a little while, but ONLY until his armor starts to fail. the ONLY reason Wolverine makes for such a good match up for Hulk, is because he has claws that can pierce his skin, and a healing factor to keep him in the fight.

yeah hulk vs thing plus the rest of the eventually getting into the mix is classic marvel. i'd like it.
