EDITORIAL: The Only Power That Can Stop The Aya-Monitor

An avid fan of the Green Lantern: Animated Series, ElectricSuperman explains the only real way to stop the Aya-Monitor.

In recent episodes of Green Lantern, Aya (the ship's AI) has become fused with the Anti-Monitor.



The only power that can realistically stop Aya is the indigo power of compassion. Aya has lost all emotion. The Anti-Monitor is a being of power, who seeks only more power. He has no compassion or remorse for life. Aya wants to destroy the Star Sapphires, who manifest off of passion. Whats one step higher than passion? Compassion. I suppose they could go the route of Razor confessing his love, and bringing emotion back to Aya. But it'd be much cooler if we got the Indigo Tribe. And if the show lasts long enough (considering its already getting cancelled, which makes me wanna get shot in the face), they could even do a version of Blackest Night, or (even more likely) the Sinestro Corps War.

Does it matter? This show is gone, and all we're left with is...BEWARE THE BATMAN. I miss the BRAVE AND THE BOLD...

I wouldn't say Compassion is more powerful or a step up from Love but...The Indigo's ability to channel other spectrums might be what would work.

Think about it; Aya developed emotions, she was an emotional being that turned her back on them. The Indigo Tribe could bombard her with multiple emotions and hopefully overload whatever barriers she's installed blocking those emotions, and bring her back to the way she was.

Uh oh, there's about 2 paragraphs on this editorial. Not to criticize but I just wanna give a heads up for you. You're gonna get a lot of flack for that, so just prepare yourself.

You seem to know a lot about the subject, so I would just suggest that you expand upon you points - A LOT . Have an introductory paragraph with a thesis, body paragraphs that follow point proof and explanation format, and a conclusion that ties everything together.

I know barely anything about GL and it would've been nice if you provided some more information for the reader to work with.


Sorry about the rant :( , I just thought it might help. Good luck on future editorials!

@SUPERGUY15 I miss Batman: The Animated Series. Why doesn't DC just start that show back up again? It's not the hardest to animate. And just about all the main voice cast is still around. Start it up again with "The Killing Joke" and you may get Mark Hamill back.

Wishful thinking, I know, but it could work.

The spectrum of emmotional color rings is the dumbest thing to ever happen to Green Lantern. GL needs to return to it's sci-fi cop routes.

this is a VERY short editorial.

For my two cents, I've really enjoyed this current storyline. I don't get much into all these different rings with different emotions, but since it's part of this show, I have a question. Didn't Hal and the crew run across a guy who used an indigo ring last season? They went back and got him, and he helped to defeat the army of Red Lanterns as I recall (sorry, can't think of his name). Perhaps his power could be useful once again.

The real crime here is that we're losing two great series like this and Young Justice. Nothing good lasts very long, but if it sucks? It'll run for a decade.

Hal and the crew came across a blue lantern (Saint Walker) who helped them defeat the Red Lanterns, and who made one more brief appearance in S1 Part 2.
Blue is different than Indigo. Blue is Hope, Indigo is Compassion.

I enjoy the spectrum of colors. I would have liked to think that S1 would have established the audience to the spectrum, and then future seasons would have been able to operate within that context and focus more on the space cop aspects.

@Darkimage: I thought I remembered that ring as being indigo instead of blue. I'm admittedly not an authority on all these different rings and what they do. Thanks for clarifying that. Season one did a reasonable job of introducing the spectrum of colors for those of us who don't know as much about that, and I think they've done a fine job of using that to tell some pretty interesting and entertaining stories.
