Cool!... but...the 7 dragon balls were created by Kamizama
Shaman

Well you know... it's a cartoon. He's japanese cause it's an anime, nothing more. Anyhoo...

I loved bulletproof monk. It was a good ride.

yeah but notice how the secondary characters remain oriental? but not the hero! hey im used to how it works at this point i just never miss an opertunity to moan about stuff! but i hear they are thinking of a live action version of akira..they either need to americanise all of those characters or non of them

no no no, Goku is Saiyajin (he comes from the Saiyan planet, don't know about the movie though), no japan exists on his planet, so he is not japanese and in the Dragonball earth there is no japan just different cities (north capital, south capital, east capital, west capital).

I think they are making it sort of that Medallion Jackie Chan movie. I wonder how can 7 mystics trap the gods? first problem I see on the script, Kamizama creating them works so much better.

Am I the only one that thinks that name is just so the porn companies can make Dragonball Ero-lust-ion?

And yes grif, this will most likely be garbage.

Ok, so, there are a million problems with this movie as a whole. But, that actually looked kind of cool. I would say, title it something else and make it have nothing to do with Dragonball whatsoever and you got yourself a relatively decent flick. I'll probably rent this one. Maybe...when it comes to On Demand...Maybe. But, not a bad trailer.

Jib7z - 12/10/2008, 1:48 PM
No Krillin apparently. Bulma pretty much only whines. Chi Chi isnt that awesome. Roshi is much older. Goku has big hair. And most of all...big biggest complaint.... THE SEVEN DRAGON BALLS ARE FOR WISHING!!!! Wasnt that the whole point in the original Dragonball series? I am a much bigger fan of DBZ. I thought all they did (Goku, Bulma, Yamcha, Krillin) was go look for the Dragonballs s they can freaking make wishes. That was it. No big the world is gunna end crap.

Besides ALL that. Even though this is probably going to end up being like Batman and Robin (in which they "threw the S" so far Superman himself cant catch it), I will still spend the money to go watch it, cause it still looks incredibly freaking sweet.

ElBeaster - 12/10/2008, 2:30 PM
I don't understand why they would change the origins of the Dragonballs if they are having a Namekian in the movie.

Now that I have come to terms with the fact that it is going to be nothing like the series, it looks......still bad. The special effects look awful.

But I'll give it a chance. Who knows.
NoobMike
NoobMike - 12/10/2008, 3:02 PM
phendry... apparently there will be a transformation (if you google it up, you'll probably find a lizard like Goku in really bad makeup that fox demanded everyone to take down). Hey grif after you see the Goku transformation you will realize this will be so much worse than Batman & Robin.

On the other thread the actress said they were signed up for 2 more movies??? do they really think this will be good at the box office??

Now there apparently is no Red Ribbon army, so that takes the androids and Cell out of the question for a sequel.. guess that just leaves Majin Buu and Frezer for villains in part 2 and 3.

why cant they just stick to the original story line. Kame made the dragon balls, piccolo is kame's evil side, the dragon balls grant you 1 wish then they scatter.

i bet they dont even mention that the ox king is Chi-chi's dad... this movie will have nothing to do with Journey to the west. FAIL. (im still going to see it though just so i can yell "WRONG" whenever they throw the s... which will be the entire movie)

I've been a fan of the dbz franchise ever since i was a little kid..even though they could have casted a better Goku justin chatwin looks a bit like him. As long as the story is similar and the action is on point a lot like the tv series is all i care about.

For some reason, I don't like the costumes. They remind me of Van "Damn!" Street Fighter. I just hope this movie won't disappoint millions of DBZ fans. I've heard Ali G would play the role of Mr. Satan. Nah just kidding!

here we again another movie from fox. that thinks it knows what fans like. oh wait thats right fox doesn't care about the fans, the only fans it cares about is the fan it makes with its money. F-ing Fox thanks for bring out more horse shiv. why do teenagers keeping getting lead rolls in these fox movies. they should fire their whole marketing and research department.
Cause the fans make these movies successful fk faces at Fox. Im pretty sure all the good parts are in that trailer... there are a couple of scenes that look cool
Bulma looks hell a sexy for me....hehe
SGA
SGA - 12/10/2008, 11:46 PM
If you think that Justin Chatwin (Goku) and Jamie Chun (chi chi) and Emmy Rossum (Bulma) are teens. think again dude. Chatwin is like 26 years old, and Jamie Chun is a few years younger, 23 or 24 i think, and Emmy Rossum is around the same age as Jamie
SGA
SGA - 12/10/2008, 11:46 PM
oh, and James marsters who plays piccolo is probably about 30 years old.
SGA
SGA - 12/11/2008, 2:10 AM
i think that Piccolo is going to be like the new Darth Vader (from the original series, before the prequels came out)...He's dark, mysterious, feared but respected, Godly in combat, and has one of the scariest voices i've ever heard...not to mention he redeems himself and becomes good in the end (or at least in piccolo's case in the movie, gets started on his way to being a good guy)
HR
HR - 12/11/2008, 7:24 AM
Tushay (spelled it wrong) SGA, lol. true.
I guess i still can't see Chatwin as a grown up
actor yet. don't know why. but your right non of them are teenagers.
WeaponX
WeaponX - 12/11/2008, 7:42 AM
Finally I can see the crappy costumes and lame SFX in motion. For awhile it was like watching Hitler being born, you know that it wasn't going to end well.

And I'm right.

It sucks. I'd watch it if someone else rented it and I had nothing to do. Just to look at Piccolo ask Goku for wishes because he looks a lot like The Wishmaster and the acting looks like it belongs for low budget made-for-TV movies. That quick exchange between Bulma and Chi-Chi... pathetic.

There's a lot better anime out there that translates far better to live action. It was a mistake from the word go to make this film.

Shaman
Shaman - 12/11/2008, 8:25 AM
Well, if they made this movie like the actuall anime, there wouldn't be many actors on this and there wouldn't be much of a world to save. They are trying to incorporate a little "humanity" in the award winning recepy. And it's only logical that Goku is living the life of a "teen" never knowing about his origins. Mabe he's an orphan, that would be logical if he actually came from another planet. Rochi tells him that "only he can do it" not meaning that he is the stupid "chosen one" from Mortal Kombat or Harry Potter, but meaning that he himself is a "god from above" which means an ALIEN(just like piccolo or his predecessors). This sounds not only similarly accurate with the original but even cooler for the general audience. Fox might not be throwing the "S" as much as it would apear here. This trailer was a great eye opener. Thanks SGA. Who knows, mabe they have learned a few things about adaptations after so many failures like Mario Bros., Double Dragon, He-Man, In the name of the King and Dungeons & Dragons.
NoobMike
NoobMike - 12/11/2008, 8:48 AM
Hmmm if they are trying to incorporate "humanity" to this adaptation... How much time and hair products does Goku spend making that awful awful hair do? (Hey Piccolo is destroying everything and I have to find the Dragon Balls before the eclipse, however I won't go outside without my pointy hair do).

Seriously, every image I see with the hair, looks worse than the previous ones. And sorry Shaman no matter how teenaged Goku is, he should NEVER set foot in a high school, that just ruins the character. The Goku I know would have rather spent his time training, than going to school.

Yes SGA, HR is right, they are teenaged looking actors, that's why the story starts in High School.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 12/11/2008, 10:15 AM
Well it certainly looks better, I guess because they give you more of an idea of what to expect. The thing that bothers me is that the fighting shown just looks too fake, I know it's supposed to be over dramatic fights, I've seen the cartoons, my issue is they didn't execute it well. For instance Kung-Fu Hustle, way over the top fighting but you could still feel the physics in it. The move that Goku did with spinning kick to the staff to launch it in the air, I didn't by it, nor any of the other fight scenes.

I am pleased that Piccolo had some green in his skin in a few shots, he does look menacing. Unfortunately though, I'll wait for the rental on this one.

It keeps getting worse and worse.
I hope someone gather the dragon balls and wish this movie to blow up to hell!

The only thing that can save this movie... is a teleporting dead Squid in the end.
Shaman
Shaman - 12/11/2008, 12:13 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I got that one!!! LOL :P Or... what about a machine that has the same function... LOL :P

Yeah, his hair is definitly one of those "Lion-O" no product will do kinda thing. I think his hair is pretty much self maintenance...alien ape hair or something. I'm sure there's a pseudo comical part in the movie where he actually explains his hair... it's inevitable.

And yes, the action is really really fake. I didn't buy it either. It looks a lot like the same fighting as Bulletproof monk which was too fake but not enough to make me hate the movie. The script will be the determining factor here. And the fighting should have looked like "ironmonkey" or something. That would've been cool.

crappybumbum - 12/11/2008, 3:04 PM
OK well I'm surprised to find the kamehameha wave in there...but is it just me or is Piccolo a light green? Eh wtvr...you know what I think the trailer looks fun...the movie may be fun too, not good or great but fun...and if I'm going to see it, I'm gonna tell myself "It's not Dragonball, it's not Dragonball" and throw everything I know about Dragonball out the window and maybe it'd be at least worth a matinee...I'm just gonna tell myself it's not Dragonball just some cool movie...

The story of Goku has fallen in the wrong hands like many others.
Comic book movies should be EPIC.
what the hell ever happend to the hungry inspirational Lucas's and Spiedlberg's directors. Everyone is looking for the next Star Wars, Matrix, Godfather. Doesn't anyone have vision anymore. I think we need a new wave of hungry up and coming directors.
CG effects is like salt to much makes things taste bad but just a dab of it makes it perfect. and Where the hell are all the good story tellers.
Once again the only bad ass looking charactor is Bulma.
freaking sexy and dangerous.
