Ant-Man and The Wasp may not have stakes as high as Avengers: Infinity War but the sequel is still a lot of fun and it does a surprising amount to move the Marvel Cinematic Universe forward by introducing new characters, developing existing ones, and exploring the mysterious Quantum Realm.

Now, with the movie in
theaters we're taking a look at some concept art for the movie and this first batch puts the spotlight on Ghost, the villain played by talented British actress Hannah John-Kamen.

Below, you'll find a number of alternate designs for the character, including some which faithfully adapt the comic book version of the villain and others which are drastically different! We even have some pieces featuring powers for Ghost which didn't make it into Ant-Man and The Wasp. So, to take a look at this amazing Marvel Studios concept art, all you guys have to do is click the "View List" button.

In an earlier draft of the screenplay, Ghost was going to be able to cause others to phase by touching them, something that would have made fighting her even more troublesome for our heroes.

If you're a fan of the comic books, you'll instantly realise that this version of Ghost looks like he/she has been torn straight out of the source material and it's actually a shame Marvel didn't adapt this.

This artwork shows Ghost losing control after being exposed to the air and there are some neat touches here, including the fact that energy leaks out of any small scrapes or cuts in her suit.

This is a cool but somewhat generic design for Ghost. It probably would have worked on screen but there are definitely better versions as you'll see throughout this list of concept art.

In this artwork, we see various shots of Ghost phasing through a wall and it's clear that the comic books inspired these pieces. The question is, should the movie have stuck closer to those?

Well, these are interesting. As you can see, Ghost's face would have been shown had these suits made it to the big screen but that would have arguably spoiled the "reveal" that he was actually a she.

These claws very nearly made it into Ant-Man and The Wasp but the decision was made to ditch them because it gave her a fighting style which was a little too similar to X-Men character Wolverine.

These pieces provide a great look at how Ghost's powers were dreamed up and it shows just how much work was put into making the character a visually unique presence in this franchise.

Marvel clearly always had a diverse actress in mind to take on the role of Ghost and here we get to see some ideas for who could be beneath the mask and the way the design of that ultimately evolved.

A very unique design for the character, it's fair to say that this version of Ghost would have been great fun to see on screen, especially as she looks so different to any other villain we've seen.

Here, we see a huge variety of alternate designs for Ghost and they're all seriously cool for a variety of reasons. Be sure to stay tuned to CBM a little later this week for part two of this concept art!

I raise you a Thunderbolts film, Feige. Just bring back Justin Hammer as the sort of unintentionally funny, not as cool, goofy evil Tony Stark to lead the team or something.

@ScarletWarlock - I realize IM2 isn't held in high regard, but I think most people agree that Sam Rockwell was amazing in that movie. It boggles my mind that they haven't brought him back yet.

I liked Ghost's design for the most part.

Wish she had more screen time, though. I hope she shows up again in the MCU.

Yeah, he could sort of be an MCU version of Titanium man, but it's just Justin Hammer being a knock off Tony Stark in hilarious fashion, and despite all his jealousy and wacky hi-jinks trying to be a version of Iron Man, maybe they craft an arc where there's a little bit of a redemption arc for him because maybe he realizes just how hard Tony had it and he feels a little remorseful about his vendetta against him and has a little bit of a newfound purpose. And the same thing with Ghost, they setup a really neat backstory with her and could really be mined to catapult her into a complex and interesting character. Plus her powers are just dope, and to see it translated to a different film-maker's perspective is exciting. But yeah, Sam is incredible of an actor, it's kind of like them striking gold with Luis in Ant-Man and not using him in Ant-Man and the Wasp, they need to find a way to get Rockwell back as soon as possible.

The mask looked kinda goofy and overall the suit didn't really feel like something shield would make. Hope she gets an upgrade when she returns

Does anyone remember 'Psycho Mantis' from the Metal Gear series? Getting a lot of Mantis vibes from Ghost.

I thought Ghost was a decent villain and even though those comic accurate designs are cool, I like the one they went with for the film more.

Some of these are pretty cool, but I still don't understand - where are her eyes?! Because those red lights don't line up, and even moreso on some of the concepts. Does she just see right through the mask?
