Roy Thomas is one of the most famous names in the history of Marvel Comics. He was the first to take over from Stan 'The Man' Lee as Marvel editor-in-chief, and presided over some of the most significant and impactful stories in the history of the company. He also introduced several important characters into the Marvel Universe, most notably Ultron and Hank Pym's semi-villainous alter-ego Yellowjacket. And now, in a piece for the Hollywood Reporter, he's discussed his feelings on Marvel's new Ant-Man movie, and by the sounds of it, he loved it!

'It's hard to imagine a better blending of old Ant-Man and new,' he said, complimenting the dramatic contrast between Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd as Hank Pym and Scott Lang. He also commented on one of the most controversial deviations from the comics- the transferral of the Yellowjacket identity from Pym to the villain Darren Cross, one that he certainly seems to have been a fan of! In his piece, he said that, 'I prefer the film's rendition of Yellowjacket to any that I or others since me have developed.' He also compared the creative process at Marvel Studios, led by Kevin Fiege, to that which went on backstage at Marvel Comics in the 60s and 70s when he and several others shaped the Marvel Universe. And as for a potential sequel? According to Thomas, what's really needed is a Giant-Man movie! Leave your thoughts below.

@MyloSteamwitz

Remember when the initial RT scores were hovering around 60%? People were foaming at the mouths for the chance to say Marvel had a failure.

Now we're back to "RT scores don't matter" again. Smh.

ANT-MAN's budget was over $130 million. If you wanna factor in the estimated cost of promotion, the movie has to make atleast $350-$400 million for it to be a success, and it hasn't even opened in the big markets yet.

Watched it today. Really enjoyable! The pacing might've been a bit off at times, and there were a few other flaws, but all in all I liked it quite a lot. So did the friends I went with.

Rudd's Scott was a cool, relatable protagonist.

Douglas's Hank Pym was a pretty awesome character in his own right, and also just a great addition to the overall MCU mythos.

I'm just not that big a fan of Lilly, but I've come closer to forgiving her for not quitting The Hobbit when she should have. :P

Stoll's Darren Cross was a servicable antagonist, not among the best MCU villains but also not among the weakest imo. The Yellowjacket suit was a really good design.

The supporting cast was amazing, with Peña delivering the standout performance. Comic relief done right! Only Judy Greer was sadly kind of wasted in her role.

The ants... I loved the ants! <3

The shrinking mechanic was used to great effect in the generally rather creative action scenes. Beautiful shots at times.

The 3D was better used than in other movies, but imo yet again not needed.

The music was okay, though nothing that really stuck.

I welcomed the return of meaningful mid- and post credits scenes.

Ant-Man was okay. Predictable plot points with good effects and Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd doing good work with their characters. Part of me says I should have just waited until it came out on Blu-ray or Netflix or something.

What a coincidence people that works with Marvel Comics never go against the cinematic adaptation and of course there are article only for who speaks good of these franchises, never seen an opposition.

Top 3 of Phase 2 so far for me, definitely worth seeing at least once.

1: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2: Guardians of The Galaxy
3: Ant-Man

Douglas & Rudd were both superb & I want to see more of both in the MCU. Wish or hope there is a way the Russo's can come up with a reason / story for a Douglas appearance in Civil War & Infinity War parts 1 & 2 because his presence just really adds to the MCU. Definitely needs a consulting role for the Avengers or maybes even at Avengers Academy or something, anything to get him involved some more.

Trollem trying too hard yet again to be a negative nancy as usual I see as per every article.
