AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM TV Spot Features New Footage; Jason Momoa Reportedly A Lock For LOBO

Another teaser for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has found its way online, and while this one has also been recorded from the TV, it is slightly better quality than the last spot!

The promo features quite a bit of new footage, including more of what will likely be the King of Atlantis' climactic battle with the villainous Black Manta. We also get a glimpse of Arthur Curry holding his son, "Aquababy," but his mother is nowhere to be seen.

Aside from one brief glimpse in the recently-released trailer, Mera has not been absent from the sequel's marketing campaign, and the recent details brought to light from Amber Heard's court appearances (find out more here) may explain why.

Is it safe to assume Mera won't be making it out of The Lost Kingdom alive? Even if she survives, it won't make much difference, since this will be the final movie of the DCEU era before the entire franchise is rebooted with James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU.

In related news, Jeff Sneider is claiming that Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo, and is expecting an announcement to be made early next year. This comes after a previous report claimed that the Game of Thrones alum had officially entered talks to play the character. Momoa could debut as Da Main Man in Superman: Legacy, but that's yet to be confirmed.

"Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, no, after w balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin."

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to swim into theaters on December 20.

@MaxPaint - Man they have [frick]ed up CBMs completely. We had the slow build from Blade to Endgame and the rapid decline ever since.

Contrarian casting and stupid reimaginings - who the [frick] could look at Momoa and NOT see Lobo? Nah. Make him Aquaman.

Aquaman and Shazam! were such NON GRITTY happy accidents that WB actually thought they were popular characters.

@GhostDog - yeah hoping his potential appearance in Legacy is based off this.

It’d also be a good way to bring in some of the more alien characters and/or bridge the divide between them and the earth based story/characters.

This is going to be a wasted casting. It is excellent choice to play Lobo, but it is in a film universe that I don't think will last.

@Forthas - Can not be any more wasted casting then he was with Aquaman.

Should of been lobo from the start also I think anyone that seen the clip of him getting off the phone with James earlier in the year knew what the deal was.

I have enjoyed his Aquaman to an extent but he’s tailor-made for Lobo imo so I’m down for this.

I just hope it won’t be confusing for the casual audiences.

Bring on Da Main Man! Legacy would be a perfect intro for Lobo! And go on from there! I would love and and hoping for a Lobo Max series after the Film release.

When Snyder first casted Mehmoa as AquaDude I was disappointed he wasn’t casted as Lobo in a MOS sequel. Now that he’s probably going to be casted in Gunn’s DCU I’m already checked out on that idea as I don’t think Mehmoa is a good actor.

@Winston19 - Ryan Hurst would kill it in live action as he did with voicing him in Man of Tomorrow.

Johnny Storm and Captain America were played by the same actor so it could work. But WB/DC needs to make sure the person playing the part matches the character from now on. I loved Dr. fate, and the Rock could have done a better Black Adam but he was a good match. Go with more of that. On the other hand, Ryan Reynolds, Ezra, Mamoa and Leto were not good fits. Better get it right or bombs away.

He's good as Aquaman, I like him as Aquaman, but he was born to play Lobo, and he WANTS to play Lobo. I remember seeing him as C2E2 years ago, before he was cast as Aquaman. He was asked what comic book character he would like to play and he didn't even hesitate in saying it would be Lobo. I also think James Gunn is perfect to bring Lobo to the big screen, so this is fated to happen.
