Elizabeth Olsen Keeps Mum On 'Scarlet Witch' Role In THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

"I've been rumored about lots of things," Olsen told MTV News during the Toronto International Film Festival. "[But yeah] I grew up loving comic books and sci-fi," explained Olsen. "I think that's how everyone's first love for movies [develops], [by enjoying that] kind of entertainment as kids. I think those movies are great. I'd love to do something like that." But has Elizabeth read up on Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch? "I never read [her appearances]. I just know comic books from my brother. No, that's not a character that I'm really well aware of until, you know, the internet." So much more "direct talk" from the actress. What do you think?



So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson and James Spader, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen in negotiations to join, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is directed by Joss Whedon from his screenplay, and is slated to begin production in March 2014 and release on May 1, 2015.

The actors have been rumored and have talked quite a few times already, Marvel should confirm them and move on

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she just never read Marvel. In any case, I think she'll be fine as SW.

Scarlet Witch and QuickSilver were one of the original members of the Avengers. Turns out they are mutants and their father is Magneto. It is bitter sweet to see them on the big screen, meaning that we finally get to see these characters but Wasp and Giant Man have been put on the back burner.

It's very possible to be a comic book fan and not know who Scarlet Witch is, he'll I didn't know Batgirl was in a wheel chair till the mid 90's cause I only read about Superman lol

^ She's 24. When she was "a kid" the Avengers comics were mostly irrelevant. Only hardcore Marvel zombies were reading Avengers until the Ultimates made them cool again and Bendis rebooted the 616 version.

Anyway, she's all wrong for Wanda. And, while it may not be fair, she looks waaay too much like her skanky sisters.

All these Marvel secrets are killing me! I hope she is good because I really like SW and QS but I would prefer Ant-Man and Wasp to join the team instead. I guess we'll have to wait for Avengers 3...

@intruder Rooney Mara for anything, she's literally one of the best actors of this current generation. She's probably too expensive for Marvel and likely won't touch any comic book properties. DAMN THOUGH WE CAN DREAM RIGHT? :)

@thewonderer, there should be no such thing as too good for CBMs. I'll buy too in demand or expensive, but never too good. Don't you want talented actors/actresses so these works can be brought to life with depth and stye; so the GA can learn to appreciate comics for the literary masterpieces that they can be? Much like anime, I don't think of comics as being just for children anymore, and, it should be taken fairly serious when adapting them. Talent should come first even before the look, because, looks can be altered by movie magic.
