Joss Whedon Talks AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; Teases The Sequel's Global Scope

Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon recently made an appearance on Marvel's "The Watcher" webseries and talks here about the global scope of the highly anticipated sequel and why it's important to show how the rest of the world views Earth's Mightiest Heroes...

By JoshWilding - Oct 29, 2014 03:10 PM EST

In a recent appearance on Marvel's "The Watcher" webseries, and while he didn't give too much away about Avengers: Age of Ultron, he did confirm that shooting took place all over the world, including "the Italian Alps. We were in Seoul, Korea. We were in Johannesburg. We shot a little in Bangladesh. Then all over England." The most interesting comment comes a little later in the interview however, when Whedon adds: "This is a very global film. We wanted the world perspective on The Avengers. They're being The Avengers and that's a global thing and it doesn't make everybody love them, so we wanted to see both sides of that..." I'm not sure about you guys, but that sounds an awful lot like some Captain America: Civil War foreshadowing to me after Kevin Feige's hints that the Superhuman Registration Act will come as a result of the public not trusting the team. Of course, it may also have something to do with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch!

Can't wait for this movie but I must admit, Captain America: Civil War is my most anticipated marvel movie. Probably even CBM.

@Davici Funny, I was going to post a picture of that and comment how interesting it is that Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are in that crowd.

I feel as though Whedon is more so referring to whatever this is:

rather than the already confirmed, Civil War stuff.

america isn't the most popular nation in the world,so i can see why some of it doesn't like the avengers.

Yeah, what DaVinci said. The Twins are Eastern European, it seems like they're heavily involved with some pretty unruly protests (anti-Avengers maybe? Hope not though, that seems way too obvious and cliche), and they DEFINITELY have a personal vendetta against our heroes. If anyone provides a global view of the Avengers, it's them.

Not seeing any Civil War connections, unless I'm missing something big?

We need a lot more diversity in movies

Also, this girl is a good interviewer...but the whole way the video is set up is just so cringe-worthy. Whedon's sense of humor is the only thing making this interview watchable.

@SauronsBANE Civil War connections as there's a more public outcry against The Avengers.

I'm gonna throw this out there too. Some bits in the trailer make it seem like Quicksilver is present during the Hulk/Hulk Buster fight. He seems to run by that same bunch of fruit stands we see the Hulk fighting next to.

@FirstAvenger

that would be awesome or union jack.

@SauronsBANE

maybe something to do with black widow releasing all of shield's secrets online(the winter soldier) or the world fears super powered beings & believe they should be all registered.

think of all the death & destruction that comes with heroes battling villains,not gonna be popular with everyone.

don't worry when thanos turns up,they all will be grateful for the earths mightiest heroes.

I think Ant-Man is definitely going to lead into Civil War too.... I'm also thinking Scott Lang's Ant-Man will maintain his secret identity

I remember in the audio from the Ant-Man comic-con trailer, Pym was talking about how the world views Super Heroes....
