More From Aaron Taylor-Johnson On Playing 'Quicksilver' In THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Considering he's yet to officially sign on for the sequel, Aaron Taylor-Johnson hasn't been able to offer much about playing Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. But when Total Film caught up with the 23-year-old actor during his Kick-Ass 2 promotional run, the UK magazine got him to talk more lengthily about the Marvel-lous possibility. Check it out below!

“There’s years – over 50 years – of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that,” he said. “Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other. His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her.”

On the appeal of the speedster character, Johnson says, “He has real anger frustration – I like that. I always thought it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you’d see him come back round – but he’s already nipped out and got his lunch somewhere else. He just got bored – his attention span is so [frick]ing quick.”

On the physical transformation that the role would require, Aaron Taylor-Johnson adds, “That’s what we’re in talks about really, right now – how I could become that character and not feel forced. I might not look right with white hair, and the accent may be wrong… it just doesn’t work like that. It’s about – unless you’re Jim Carrey or Nic Cage and go ‘This is the character’, people go ‘OK, OK…’ When people haven’t been shown your range like that, then they’re a bit more skeptical – they may not want you to push the boundaries in that way. But that’s what I’m interested in as an actor…” What do you think?

So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, with Kick-Ass actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson in negotiations to join, Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron is written and directed by Joss Whedon, and is scheduled to start filming in March in the United Kindom for a May 1, 2015 release date.

@ckal he was involved with First Class and that was pretty solid. X2 holds up for me, first one not so much.

I think its great they're putting characters with less punchy powers onscreen.

@reasonnn how can it already be better than singer's version when we know practically nothing about the angle they are going with them?

" it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time"

That's something the Flash does.

@highflyer Singer has him for one scene. Whedon has made it pretty clear that the siblings are integral to the film.

@Reasonnnn, one scene????

No, singer does not have him for only one scene. That was a rumor perpetuated by marvel fanboys

Singer released a photo of quicksilvers house, implying he's not just there for one action sequence. He's important

And Quicksilver is magnetos child as it should be.

I'm sure whedons quicksilver will get a ton of development and screen time
Considering...

- he has to set up ultron
- explain what hulk has been doing
- explain how iron man comes back with new suits
- explain what hawkeye has been up to
- set up the story and conflict with action sequences
- set up brand new characters in these 2
- make up for the ends of the other phase movies I'm sure
- explain the standing of shield

Whedon is full of himself

Is it me or does the Marvel Studios/ Fox Marvel dynamic seem as much of a rivalry as Marvel/ DC....?

He seems to be talking a lot about this character and the Avengers sequel for a guy who isn't even officially in the movie (yet?).
Reasonnnn
Reasonnnn - 8/1/2013, 9:50 AM
@thewonderer Do you really have to explain what the characters have been up to (maybe outside of Hulk) and what SHIELD has been up to (since Winter Soldier is the direct sequel to Avengers and precursor to Avengers: Ultron)? It's basically Iron Man creating Ultron, introducing the twins, Ultron going mad, team interaction/conflict and action setpieces. That can be done in a 2 1/2 hour film.

The dumb thing about Quicksilver in Days of Future Past is that Singer said that there is only going to be one sequence with Quicksilver in the movie. That is it

Between the 2 Quicksilvers they're gonna wear out all of flash's powers, tricks and jokes--like his appetite. Where does that leave you, WB?

While he's not my first choice, it seems Aaron will do a fine job. Pietro can be a great character and I trust Whedon so far. Hoping Ultron's creator is revealed to be Pym in an after credits cut scene!
