AVENGERS 4: Howard Stark Actor John Slattery Has Reportedly Been Spotted Shooting Scenes With [SPOILER]

The first batch of Avengers 4 set photos from the movie's reshoots surfaced a little earlier today and it's now been revealed that John Slattery will be reprising the role of Howard Stark. Check it out!

Avengers 4 reshoots are now underway and with Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Paul Rudd all seen reporting for duty earlier today, another actor has now reportedly been spotted. According to That Hashtag Show, John Slattery has recently shot scenes with Robert Downey Jr. No details about what those involved have been revealed but this is obviously interesting for a number of reasons. 

Bear in mind that Slattery appeared in Captain America: Civil War via a hologram created by Tony's B.A.R.F. tech, a device which allowed him to revisit a memory from his past. While many fans believe we'll get time travel sequences in the Avengers: Infinity War follow-up, a suitcase labelled "B.A.R.F." was spotted during shooting so perhaps Iron Man needs to remember something his father told him.
 
We'll have to wait and see but the fact that a familiar face from the past is returning here is definitely going to only fuel fan theories about what's to come in Avengers 4. It's worth noting that in the many "leaked" plot details we've seen doing the rounds, Howard hasn't been mentioned once which pretty much confirms those were bogus. What do you guys think? There are a lot of things i love about Iron Man 2. If Slattery is filming a scene with Downey i'm already sold. I hope we get more than a few blasts from the past in A4.

Yeah, those leaked plot details are bogus because of this. Its not like the possibility you yourself mentioned of this simply being a scene from the barf tech that makes this scene little more than a cameo would explain why howard isnt mentioned.

If they are bringing him in to do a scene, it might just be a small cameo, but I've got to think there will be some level of importance to the plot.

It may be a small cameo but I highly doubt it would be a throw away scene of no importance that isn't worth mentioning in a "plot leak".

@CorndogBurglar - he views a memory of his family and when talking to scott he realizes the possibility of using that tech to travel into the past. Boom. Nothing about that needed me to say his name. Technically i could even go so far as to say that he just gets the idea. Dont even need to say the scene involves looking into those memories. This is a movie just as packed with superheroes as the last one with so many plot lines to resolve. Theres no way an already dead guy is getting a large enough role that you cant talk about plot details without mentioning him.

@Origame - That's true. I just feel like it would be important enough to be worth mentioning. And you just named one scenario. There's also plenty of others that could make it important.

At the end of the day, we're talking about plot leaks in which one of them didn't even mention Captain Marvel's role lol. And we KNOW she is going to he important.

So....who knows, I guess.

@CorndogBurglar - Let's also keep in mind that the Russo's may have wanted to save shooting this small scene for the Reshoots, for closing Tony's thread with Howard one last time, possibly in person points heavily towards his death.

@CorndogBurglar - look, im not saying that what i came up with is exactly how its going to play out. What im saying though is that its plausible enough of a reason that going under the assumption of disregarding the leaks is ridiculously premature. There are other possibilities that i can bore you with everything i can come up with, but it should be pretty apparent from how marvel handles their films that there are a lot of details that dont matter to the films they are presented in, whether it sets up a future movie or just expands the world they exist in.

@CurlyBill - Just depends on the time period and age of Howard, they use both of the actors and I like that. Cooper spent his time on Agent Carter as well.

@CurlyBill - Would they ever go so far as to depict a 50s/60s era version of Howard Stark, using some digital amalgam of Cooper and Slattery? The two men look nothing alike, so I’m curious about what this combo would look like.

@NoAssemblyReqd - I know they don't look anything alike at all. Hell Cooper is way darker in skin tone then Slattery is so I always thought that was weird. Now that we have seen what a young SLJ looks like they might just deage Slattery now.

@BlackBeltJones - I didn't like Howard in iron man 2 he seemed like an ass. Civil War was when I started to like him, it really showed the complicated relationship between him an Tony and how they both cared about each other but neither one could say it.
