Marvel's Avengers isn't going to arrive in stores until September, but some new GamerVerse comics promise to reveal more about this version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. A preview of Black Widow's comic book prequel has been released which shows the game's Natasha Romanoff meeting with Nick Fury before exchanging blows with Taskmaster for the first time.

He's still regular old Tony Masters at this point, and someone S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury has enlisted to put his top agent to the test! The sultry superspy soon overpowers him, though, and this series will likely explain what sent him down a villainous path to become Taskmaster.

Interestingly, this version of Fury is a combination of the 616 interpretation of the character and the Ultimate one who was based on the likeness of actor Samuel L. Jackson.

Very little is known about Marvel's Avengers beyond what we've seen in the trailers, but the delay couldn't have come a worse time now we're all stuck indoors! Alas, it's unlikely that anything will change because the game is unfinished, but these comics should go some way in filling the void.

So, Marvel keeps on pushing Taskmaster as Black Widow's "arch-nemesis"?
Even though they barely met in the comics.
Well, I can see why, since he is a good match for her skills. But Marvel, don't re-write history.

While at it: I thank you for helping out the toilet paper industry with the new New Warriors and the new Children of the Atom.
:D

@ThunderThighs - most of her villains are just other spies or secret organizations, task master seems like a good fit.

So it's the game's Widow but she looks like the movie version on the cover.
