HAWKEYE Star Jeremy Renner Weighs In On Possibly Reuniting With Original AVENGERS In SECRET WARS

With the Multiverse Saga failing to connect with audiences in the way Marvel Studios hoped, none of us were surprised to learn Kevin Feige is thinking about reassembling the original six Avengers

The Infinity Saga was built around Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and The Hulk. While some of them would almost certainly be Variants, that team is certainly one way to get people back into theaters for the next Avengers movies.

Talking to Josh Horowitz, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner was asked for his thoughts on getting the gang back together.

"Maybe if enough time goes by, right? I think it kind of has at this point, but also what is the point of the narrative [and] the story?" the actor wondered. "These are beloved characters. We did spend 23 films together essentially as a collective. What is the reason? What is the story? Do you have to do more after that? How do you ever resolve this?"

"When is it ever gonna feel like, 'Everyone gets their little bow, nobody died, it feels great!' What happens here?" Renner continued. "I've got feelings about it. I think everybody does. I think the guys that died have feelings about it."

It sounds like he may know something, and while Renner believes there needs to be a good reason for reassembling the original version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, he's clearly on board with the idea of reuniting with them.

Horowitz then asked whether he's ever requested that Clint Barton be killed off and wondered why we never got that long-awaited Hawkeye & Black Widow movie.

"No, no, I've never asked to be killed," Renner admits. "Stuff like [a team-up movie] is always interesting and exciting. You could pull in so many people just for that. A Mr and Mrs Smith vibe would be kinda interesting. What's the idea to get The Avengers together? How and why? What's the purpose of it?"

As for whether he knows anything about Secret Wars, he added. "I don't know what this is. I'm always down for it, man. I think it'd be great. It'd be awesome. I'd love to be with everyone again."

There are lots of fascinating insights in the video below, including the hate Renner received for not being the one who died in Avengers: Endgame (as we're sure you'll recall, Black Widow sacrificed herself to save the archer).

Unfortunately, the actor isn't asked about Hawkeye season 2 plans despite recent rumours about it getting the green light.

You already know this man is gonna be the SOLE reason we get the OG Avengers back together. Most of the other actors seem pretty content moving on from their roles and don't really feel a need to come back.

Marvel better be cooking on the script. I don't want any more subpar Marvel content anymore. More like X-Men 97, please.

@xfan320 - I dunno, I think money will also be a big factor

@Evansly - I'm sure, but given the goodwill and enthusiasm that Mr. Renner garners from those around him, and the fact he still has a healthy working relationship with Disney, I'm sure goes a long way in negotiations.

@xfan320 - Oh without a doubt. He seems like a great team player. Just don't think he'll be the only reason

fav avenger. He was one of the few characters that Disney marvel didn't phuck up in the later projects. If he comes back I hope whoever the writers are don't try to phuck him.

Josh Horowitz is such a terrible interviewer. He is cloying, obsequious, overbearing, and fake. I don't blame Renner for wanting to avoid him

Hopefully he returns if the rest of the original Avengers do.

Think it'd be funny if we get a post credit scene of an alternate version of the original Avengers team (completely unrelated to the movie) eating shawarma somewhere in another universe

He'd be a great mentor for the Young Avengers, should they decide to go in that direction.

I'd like to see him become a combination of Fury and Rodgers, while holding back pukeface protégé, Hawkeye due to his trauma from losing Black Widow.
