Joss Whedon appeared at a Comic-Con panel to wild cheers and applause Saturday afternoon. Whedon didn't offer much in the way of news but he did heap praise on the star studded cast.

“What I find is that these characters mesh through these differences really well,” he told the capacity crowd at the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom. “And what I also find is these actors have a great time playing against each other, and they are, as a troop, actually a much better team than the Avengers are.”
He said working on “Avengers” has been easier than he expected. “In fact, the only problem I’ve had with ‘The Avengers’ is: Where is the 14-year-old girl with superpowers?” he joked.

Most of the panel was devoted to discussing the upcoming Angel, Faith, and Buffy comics with IDW. One intriguing tidbit that did emerge was the fact that Whedon stated that he's trying to get a sequel to Serenity greenlit but no studio is biting. Whedon went on to say that he has no plans at the moment to return to writing comics for Marvel, he has no plans to write a Star Trek comic, and cracked a joke that his next project will be rebooting the Spider-Man franchise in a year.
The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It was announced in April 2005 and is based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012, in 3D.
