With the San Diego Comic-Con convention jump-starting, Disney and Marvel Studios have activated the official site for their Joss Whedon-directed superhero extravaganza The Avengers, unveiling the first official teaser poster. Despite it's recognizable template, click the poster below linking to the webpage; and a download link for the poster.




Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

Pretty cool, but no where near as epic looking as TDKR's poster.

@MarvelWeiner: No, TDKR teaser poster was also simple and nothing exciting. Reused buildings from Inception and Bat logo. Yay! Give me a break. But this is also nothing special.

If you actually type in http://marvel.com/avengers_movie/ it takes you to the old site.

But if you click on the link provided above, it takes you to a different site with the same address in the address bar.

I think this might just be some sort of internet trickery...

I'd say Have to say TDKR jus because Gotham is gettin destroyed and we've seen a clear teaser but this is cool to!

Sweet and simple.

Reminds me a bit of the X-men teaser posters as in, it does it gets the job done in the most subtle way. We still have like a year, it's too early for stuff with the actual team on it, imo.

It's a shiny "A". Now I appreciate that it's a just a teaser and in that respect it's cool, but by God I look forward to hearing the Marvelites claim this is better than the TDKR one!
