Greetings one and all!

Although it's been barely two weeks since Marvel's The Avengers landed in theaters (and proceeded to destroy our eyes with images of pure awesomeness), the rumor mill and fanboy speculation has been running at 100 mph with ideas and scoops and uhh...speculation on what we might see in the sequel.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been entertaining experience for fans and non-fans since the debut of Iron Man in May 2008. In the four years that followed Marvel continued to hit success with The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger before dropping their bombshell of cinematic, and fanboy, gold with The Avengers. Marvel's blend of great casting, comedic wit and action has made their films an attraction for both fanboys (and girls) and non-fan families around the world.

While success at Marvel Studios is running high, DC/Warner Bros. are nipping at their heels with box office blockbusters featuring Batman and ummm...more Batman. But things are looking great for their future! They think. And we hope.

So with the history lesson out of the way, LET'S HEAR IT! Let's get some healthy Avengers 2 opinions, debates and general commentary in here! Let's make this the number one spot for Avengers 2 speculation and dialogue!

So who's it going to be? Ms. Marvel? The Vision? Wonder Man? Giant Man and Wasp?

Although there are plenty of fans for and against Clark Gregg returning as The Vision, the fact remains that he is signed on for six movies and he has so far appeared in only four. His personality, importance to S.H.I.E.L.D and status as a fan favorite have left the doors wide open for Marvel to try something new for the character. Was Agent Coulson a S.H.I.E.L.D android all along? Will he return as a better version of...Coulson? Or as the Vision? Marvel has shown that they're willing to make creative changes for their movie properties (the Taliban causing the creation of Iron Man, Obadiah Stane being an owner of Stark Industries, The U.S Army helping to create the Abomination, etc.) so it's not a stretch for Marvel to throw a creative curve ball here.

Also, am I the only one who would've preferred Hawkeye's "Ultimates 3" use of handguns over arrows? Although I concede that would've given us two non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents using guns.

C'mon let's hear it! Ms. Marvel for A2 anyone?

Ant-Man/Gian-Man and Wasp, Ms. Marvel, maybe Julia Carpenter's Spider-Woman to confuse gen audiences, I keep wanting to say Black Panther if only for some diversity, I just have not seen him fit with the team; so I'll say Falcon and Luke Cage instead.

Ultron. 'The Avengers 2', I think, is far down the line. So many other characters and stories to do. The Avengers doesn't have to be the only crossover franchise they do. I'd like to see an Iron Man & Hulk team-up (heard it from @grif first). Phase 2 should focus on artificial intelligence. You know, since the World Security Council doesn't trust superheroes. Vision, Ultron, Life Model Decoys, other Android characters. Especially since Feige wants to gear up Superhero Registration for Phase 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Cosmic-scoped adventures can run in the background, with Thanos and his pursuit of the Infinity Gauntlet seving as the core. That can account for tons of films.

Black Panther would be pretty awesome, but he's also big enough for a solo film. And I agree that I'm not sure he'd fit with the current team dynamic.

I'd like to see Ms. Marvel and Luke Cage or Ant-Man/Giant Man and Wasp.

I'd like to see them introduce Jessica Drew as a S.H.I.E.L.D agent first before they get into any Spider-Woman stuff or maybe Mockingbird. I agree with dellamorte that they should keep the number of actual Avengers additions to four, two in A2 and two in A3. Out of the list of possibilities I'd definitely prefer Hank and Jan and Ms. Marvel and someone else, maybe Vision or Luke Cage. Or if they're going cosmic in 3 with Thanos, get the Kree involved and use Captain Marvel.

They should look at Kang as a villian too. I'd also like to see more Maria Hill action in the next movie, instead of her just shooting a gun show her kicking some a$$. Cobie Smulders rocked that part.

This is a favored topic of conversation for me lately. There has been much laid out for us to speculate on, and if every Easter Egg could be followed to it's end, we will have a huge sandbox in the next 6-10 years.

First of all, not every character introduced to the MCU has to be an Avenger. Dr. Strange immediately comes to mind with news that it could be one of the 2 potential unknown and unannounced films we've heard about. Same goes for characters like Namor and DD(if we end up getting him back soon)or even Luke Cage and Iron Fist. They don't have to be Avengers to be part of the MCU.

It's hard to say where they will go with Hulk. Before Avengers success, I'd have thought he might be dropped from the roster for the 2nd outing to make room for others. I don't know now.

The first question should be, "Who is the villain?" After answering that, additions to the roster will fall into place. My heart is set on Ultron. It's been said by Whedon I think that he wants a smaller, more personal story for the sequel. SHIELD commissioning Pym to create an insurance policy should the Avengers get crazy, then said insurance policy goes crazy and tries to kill the Avengers. Somewhere along the way, Pym reveals the secret to the team, helps them win. Sounds pretty personal and certainly smaller in scale. This means Hank Pym and Vision... and Wasp I guess.

Then again it wouldn't be hard to bring in BP instead of Vision in another plot. I think Cap 2 will setup Black Panther rather than a solo endeavor. They could also do a a BP feature in an Avengers sequel instead. A story bringing a new Avenger into the fold, saving the small nation of Wakanda, maybe Klaw and AIM are backed by Hydra... again, sounds smaller and more personal. And it could open Cap 2 up for something else, and maybe introduce Agent Carol Danvers.

Again, it all revolves around the plot and villain. It wouldn't make sense to get Vision with Pym and BP... and wasp, it's too much. I know I'd eventually like to see Pym, BP, Vision, and Ms. Marvel with the Avengers at some point. And I'd like to see Strange, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Namor in the MCU at some point. As far as villains, I really want to see Ultron, Taskmaster, Enchantress, Red Skull revisited, and Baron Zemo. Obviously not all in Avengers films, but throughout the independent franchises of the MCU as well.

Enchantress would be pretty cool. I'd like to see the Red Skull again too, Hugo Weaving crushed that role! And since he didn't technically "die" but got beamed to....somewhere Star Trek style, it's possible for him to pop up again somewhere.

Dr. Doom would be sweet too, too bad Fox has him...I think.

I have to say though, I gotta give Marvel their props here. Like TheMyth says, Marvel has the potential for endless cinematic stories and possibilities if they keep with their current movie making formula. The way they've handled casting, continuity, humor, action and a lighter theme to their movies has really given them great appeal outside of the fan community.

I think that's why Scott Pilgrim and Watchmen didn't do as well as they could have. They were good movies, don't get me wrong but being that they don't have a real mainstream presence and they're more mature in theme I think that prevented them from doing as well as they could have box office-wise.

And while Nolan's Batman films are great, his method of story-telling really focuses on the complexity of Batman's role in society and Gotham in general. As much as I loved Heath Ledger's Joker, while I watched The Dark Knight again the other day I couldn't help but feel there was too much talking, to much waxing philosophical to the movie and not enough action.

That's what I loved about The Avengers, so much action and bits of humor, but with a well told story that made it a fun movie as well as an entertaining one.

I've been a DC fan for most of my life, but I have to say I think Marvel is really setting the standard for superhero movies these days.

Thanos is obviously going to be the villain for the next movie especially after seeing after the end-credits with him showing up like how he did, it is obvious he is going to be the main villain for the next movie and if he is, then as for heroes that I would want to see in the sequel are Ant-Man, Wasp, and Vision

And Ms. Marvel along with any others can come in, in the 3rd movie

Obvious? The Tesseract and Infinity Gauntlet are in Asgard. Destroying Earth is at the bottom of his list right now. Plus, he's beyond The Avengers-- he's threat is Cosmic-scoped. Joss Whedon already said he wants the sequel to be "smaller, more personal". Thanos is for Guardians of the Galaxy to worry about.

Smaller and more personal...who's smaller and more personal? I honestly can't think of anyone that would hit the team close to home. Ultron and Korvac are would be the obvious choices as far as powerful enemies go. Norman Osborn is with Sony and their Spider-Man franchise. Dr. Doom is with Fox.

A team of super villains would be pretty cool.

An Ultron attack will be more personal for all individual Avengers, knowing their secrets. After all, Ultron has called Henry Pym "father". And the scope will more contained. More Earth-based.

Ultron does not necessarily mean we would get hank and Jan. Tbey could always make another character create Ultron....

It just doesnt look like marvel is in a hurry to use either of them, unless they really are making Ant-Man. But that would a big mistake in my opinion. I cant see non-comic fans going to see an Ant-Man.

Well I don't know if it will make bank, but Marvel's shown that they can take tier 2 characters and create a movie fans want to see. Let's be honest, Raimi's Spider-Man movies were pretty decent and Spider-Man is arguably their most recognizable and successful property but they really struck Gold when they released Iron Man in-house and that's what really set the tone for everything since then. So I think if done right, Ant-Man could be a great movie.

I'm hoping that in the coming movies Marvel will start expanding some of their more well known S.H.I.E.L.D agents. I'd like to see Agent Quartermain, Valentina Allegra De La Fontaine and especially Sharon Carter.

Ultron is about as personal as it gets. Especially if his creation was commissioned by the World Security Council as not only an equal to superheroes that they can control, but as an insurance policy on the Avengers. Pym creates Ultron(who is based on Pym's brainwaves) and Vision(who is based on COULSON so suck it! lol) at the same time, Ultron goes rogue and tries killing individual Avengers, Vision doesn't. Pym reveals the truth and purpose of Ultron and Visions creation at a dramatic moment, heroes are pissed with SHIELD. After Ultron lays waste to the heroes in the final confrontation, Vision takes Ultron out.

Ultron would reveal during the final act his ultimate goal after destroying the heroes, to scour all biological life from the universe and all that, but he knows he must first kill the heroes. Maybe in act 2 he hacks SHIELD and activates a bunch of LMD's for a cool fight, but Ultron has no army and fights the team head on for the final act. He considers himself superior and his hubris is his downfall. This keeps it small scale, and very personal.

I want the same roster, plus Black Panther, Giant-Man and Wasp. MAYBE Ms. Marvel, but thats if they go with Ultron. If they go Thanos for two though, I say team up with Guardians for the Galaxy. Nova, Star-Lord, Drax and Rocket Racoon. I know there are more members, but there is such a thing as too many protagonists.

i think we could lose hawkeye & wasp,bring some new characters i would love to see the vision & ultron so maybe introduce hank pym,wasp & scarlett witch.

characters like ms.marvel,namor,sentry & so on on should be left to at least the third movie.

You're a dumbass. Why would they put Thanos in an Avengers sequel? They have many other villains. Plus what does Thanos want from Earth? His beef is with Loki, and the Tesseract and Infinity Gauntlet locked up in Asgard. We know Guardians of the Galaxy is in the works so Thanos is th most likely villain for that. Plus, how is having Thanos a "smaller, more personal" sequel. Think!
