THE AVENGERS and THOR were delayed by 10 months as well

WB is not the only studio that delays its superhero movies.

I find it very interesting how nobody seems to bring up how so many Marvel movies were delayed as well.

Check out their official press release from March 2009.

http://marvel.com/news/movies/2009/3/12/7214/marvel_movie_update_new_release_schedule

It states that several of their films were being delayed from the original dates they announced back in 2008.

THOR was bumped from July 16, 2010 to May 20, 2011, roughly 10 months,

THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA (as it was called back then) was delayed from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011,

and THE AVENGERS was delayed from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012, roughly 10 months as well.

More recently with Disney...Thor: The Dark World was delayed by 4 months (and the original director left with less than two years to the original release), Star Wars Episode 7 was delayed by 6 months due to script rewrites, and Pirates V was delayed by a year.

Just something to keep in mind.

EDIT: Before you argue that Iron Man's runaway success lead them to fast-tracking Iron Man 2 instead, note that Marvel announced Iron Man 2 on the same day as the release dates for Thor, Cap, and Avengers (May 5, 2008, immediately after Iron Man's opening weekend). The only thing that changed was that Thor was not ready.

EDIT2: Before you argue that the writer's strike justifies the change of release date, note that Marvel announced the release dates for these movies in May 2008, months after the writer's strike had ended. So, if they had no working scripts, they decided to announce the release dates anyways.

To be fair, people do act like Marvel is something Holy. Marvel casts a bland, wrestler-actor, m'kay. DC casts a bland, model-actor, taunting and mocking.

martian- i think marvel get away with stuff like that because they have proven themselves, there where people who criticized some casting decisions before the film was released but marvel stuck to their guns and the actors suprised people, and im sure Gal gadot will prove people wrong (even if i would prefer a diffrent actor).

Cool to know! If I remember correctly, Man of Steel was pushed back as well. Compared with the Marvel movies that were pushed back...this is nothing new. I'm all for it if it leads to a much stronger movie.

i dont like you saying disney's marvel studios, after all they where a studio before disney bought them. also loads of people where whineing about douglas being cast as hank pym. and in addition just like the marvel fanboys loveing everything marvel does there are the DC fanboys that hijack every marvel article and try to start a flame war and love everything DC does. it works both ways, but i would prefer it if both sides would just shut up and stop arguing.

Flame bait huh? K I will bite. People are making a bigger deal about this one because they want the movie they have been waiting for. DC fans are upset cause they have to wait longer. Not to mention they had a chance to really hurt Antmans box office, and now that they backed off from the original date thats a little less competition for Antman. MCU fans will use it as an excuse to say DC is intimidated, an article like this just adds more fuel to the Flame. Im a MCU fan by the way. That doesn't mean im blind. I just see facts, surrounded by lots of bullshit. DC made this decision cause they think its the best thing for their film. If its because they dont want to compete with Marvel, who cares! Both Studios benefit from this. Some people have to find a dig cause they have nothing better going on in their lives. Dont be one of them.
BenjiWest
BenjiWest - 1/26/2014, 10:56 AM
Didn't want to compete? Didn't they move into an MCU date, head to head? Guess we'll have to wait to see who blinks on that on.

Wrestler-Actor = Batista for Drax I assume.
And Gadot for Wonder Woman.

HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Lol.

But I think Gadot will be great as WW. She'll prove the haters wrong.

In fact my last bet was that Superman vs Batman would be the best movie of 2015. Damn! Now I have a tattoo of Gal Gadot in WW attire. I hope she does prove the haters wrong!

I also bet that Rudd was Antman, so now I also have a tat of Liberace with the Antman helmet.

You think Gadot will be cool? Odd, didn't expect that from somebody who will hate Superman no matter what. May I ask though, have you read any Superman stories and if so, which ones? And if you hate Superman does that also mean you hate Captain America? Given that he and Superman have similar personalities and morals.

Gadot isn't playing Superman. No, I've never read Superman. I have seen all the Superman movies, minus Superman IV. I dislike Superman because I believe the character is outdated and boring, not his personality. I also don't read Cap comics, or Avengers. I stopped reading comics at 14(13 years ago). I do, although, keep up to date on all the movies, as they have become my preferred medium for Comic Book characters.

That's why I don't get into source accuracy arguments, because I no longer know enough. It's also why I don't care if the movies and TV shows completely change source material. In my mind, it's different stories for different mediums.

Anything else you'd like to know?

Nope, enjoyed all of them for what they were. Except Origins, because it was a mess, and First Class, because I simply found it boring.

But the X-Men are a different animal. I have had issues with the characterization a of certain characters(ie. Rogue), because they took a wonderful character and made them a farce. Also, The Dark Phoenix Saga was something I read and quite enjoyed, so I was upset about the way they went about that particular story. But I enjoyed the movie, nonetheless.

Anything else?

Imo. The problem with Gal and Bautista that the fans have, neither is the best actor. Bautista at least looks the part. Gal doesn't. Someone else may think the opposite than me. Opinions, their a bitch. I wasnt a huge fan of Gamoras casting. I think she doesnt fit the role that well. I could be proven wrong.

If you haven't read the comics then you honestly can't comment. This is why most Superman haters piss me off. I hate the Donnor Superman too (who is boring and outdated) but to use that to validate your hatred it stupid. Read some of the good Superman stories out there and if you still hate the character, fine. Until you do actually read some comics about Superman, know the character as he really is and then form an opinion, might as well shut it, hm? Because your hatred is illogical if you haven't read any of the books.

I'm willing to provide a big detailed comment about Superman's 3D character if you still can't be bothered to read up on the good Superman stories and if you still think he sounds boring, suit yourself.

"I like the part where part where you forget to mention that the reason for pushing the movies back was the fact that they wanted to fast track a second Iron Man movie due to the first one vastly exceeding expectations

But don't let that interfere with this editorial/spin job"

^This. Plus, Marvel as a studio knew what they were doing. They presented us with a plan and stuck to it. The dates shifted around and it was clear what their intention was: Single origin movies leading to the Avengers. Whereas with the Batman/Superman pushback we don't know why it happened. Is it because they want to film Justice League back to back? Are they having issues with the movie? Are there issues with the cast or the script? Does DC/WB even have a plan set up?

Movies get pushed around all the time, it's nothing new. The reason why there is a fuss on the site is because DC/WB doesn't really deliver and it just seems like it's been pushed back due to issues rather than to give us a quality product. Maybe if they present a plan at SDCC this year everything will be better, but as of right now I don't trust DC until they can deliver a proper well done comic book movie.

There is one thing I'm trying to figure out...

When the bloody hell did I bring up Superman or spout any hatred towards him in this thread? I simply commented that I think Gal Gadot will make a good Wonder Woman. For some strange [frick]ing reason, you decided that WW and Superman are joined at the hip, and me having an opinion one WW is invalid because I have a negative opinion of Superman. Where is the logic in that?

I gave you my opinion on Superman, which is derived in my own experiences with the character. If that's not good enough to satisfy your high standards, too [frick]ing bad. I have no desire to validate which characters I like, or dislike, to you. You're just not that important to me.

I don't spend time on this site hating on Superman, unless people ask my opinion of Man of Steel. To which my standard answer is... I believe MoS to be a well made movie, with small issues pertaining to script and characterization. But because of my dislike for the character, I did not enjoy the movie.

I have also stated that I am looking forward to BvS because I do, in fact, like Batman , and I want to see what Ben Affleck brings to the role. Also, I am interested to see what Gadot is capable of as WW, since she must've shown Snyder something to get the role.

Now, if you would like to argue the pros and cons of hiring Gal Gadot for WW, re. my original comment, I'm all ears. But if all you wanted to do was change the subject to Superman, to try and prove some point that I can't comprehend, then your job is done, and we have nothing further to discuss.

Please, do not bring up a character that you know I dislike, because my avatar gives it away, simply to try and make me sound uneducated on said character. My intention when I commented towards you, was to show that there was a difference between a largely unknown, possibly unimportant character like Drax(since we don't know what he will do in GotG), and one of DC's flagship characters.
Klone
Klone - 1/26/2014, 3:05 PM
@Merc

I never said your WW opinion was invalid at all. I only saying it was surprising to me given your general DC opinions. And yes, your Superman doesn't hold to much weight if you're basing it solely off of the Reeve films. That's not really up for much debate. Not high standards.

If a Marvel movie gets delayed (Avengers), it's "Oh, I hope they take their time."

A DC movie gets delayed it's "frick you WB! You guys are so stoopid!"

Marvel produces a bad movie (Iron Man 2) it's "I'm sure they'll do better in the future."

Sony produces a bad movie (Spider-Man 3) it's "Screw the whole franchise, frick Sony."

Marvel deviates from the source material (Iron Man 3) it's "smart move."

Fox deviates from the source material (X-Men First Class) it's "frick you Fox, you have no respect."

Facts are, Marvel fans judge everything with a double standard. According to them it's ok for Marvel to do the same things that they bash others for doing. I hate all this brand loyalty crap...

So we have Drax= Bautista, not a great actor, but looks the part.
Gamora= Saldana, great actress, but doesn't look the part.
Wonder Woman= Galdot, not a great actress, and doesn't look the part.

Sure, whether or not how good of an actor someone is can be based on personal opinion, just as well as their appearance. This just seems to be what im hearing from the majority of people on the internet. My personal opinion on Galdot, I dont have one. Im not a huge fan of Wonder Woman so I personally dont have a concern. Im still gonna watch the movie though. I think this round you picked a bad example for your frustration with MCU fans.

Martian- One of the things I've always found fascinating about Superman, is his super-hearing. I mean, the bloke can hear EVERYTHING. He's completely aware of every f*ckin' thing that happens in the world. Somebody's heart is giving out.. whether from disease, neglect, or just.. old age.. and he'll hear their very last breath. And what's he gonna do about it, y'know? He can't do a f*ckin' thing to stop death. Not like that.

He can hear somebody's stomach growling for food on the other side of the planet, he can hear wars being fought.. I mean, how does somebody live with something like that, y'know? To mortals, he's nothing short of a god.. but it doesn't feel that way, not to him, at least. There's only so much even he can do, and he knows that. Whatever, I'm rambling.

I have seen fans from both sides act and say all kinds of ridiculous shit. Their all annoying. Just cause I state im a MCU fan doesn't mean I dislike Fox, Sony or DC. I enjoy them all. I just enjoy the stories and continuity in the MCU the most. When it comes to comics, X men. Spiderman used to be my all time favorite but I cant read these newer stories with him in it. Thanks to Dan "The Mole Man" Slott. Got side tracked, sorry. I dont mean I find you all annoying, just the trolls that throw around their usual trollslander.
