Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah weighed in on Warner Bros. Discovery's decision to scrap their movie earlier tonight, and star Leslie Grace has now shared her response via Instagram.
Although the In The Heights actress is clearly very disappointed, she has taken a commendably optimistic view of the announcement, thanking fans for the continued support they've shown since she laded the role of Barbara Gordon.
"Querida familia! On the heels of the recent news about our movie Batgirl, I am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland," Grace wrote in her post. "I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process! To every Batgirl fan - THANK YOU for the love and belief, allowing me to take on the cape and become, as Babs said best, “my own damn hero!” #Batgirl for life."
Leslie also shared some new behind-the-scenes of her in-costume as Batgirl, as well as a few set videos of the production.
The studio has made it clear that it has no intention of releasing Batgirl in theaters or on the HBO Max streaming service, as it would rather write it off than pump any more money into the project in order to make it "theater ready."
There's always a chance we will see Batgirl someday, but as of right now, Barbara Gordon's first live-action feature outing is destined to remain on the shelf.
