Shooting officially wrapped on the upcoming Batgirl HBO Max movie back in April, and we're hearing that the first test-screening was held last night in LA. Several sources are reporting that the response from those who've seen the film have been very positive, and some new details have also found their way online.

While there's nothing too spoilery here, these plot points do give us a better idea of what to expect from the overall story and certain character dynamics, so if you'd rather go in knowing as little as possible, probably best to skip 'em.

Of course, we can't even be certain that any of the following is accurate, but we have been told the same things by a few different people, so make of it what you will.

Apparently, Batgirl and Michael Keaton's Batman will work as a team for a good portion of the movie, and they will have a "no kill rule." Nightwing and Black Canary do not appear, despite a poster of the latter being spotted in recent set photos. We're also hearing that Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman is referenced somehow, but we're not sure of the context.

The ending of the movie is reportedly reminiscent of the official concept art that was released last year, and will see Barbara Gordon don a new Batgirl costume. There's also whispers of a major cameo, but we don't have much more to go on.

Again, best to treat all of this as rumor for the time being, but we'll be sure to update if any more info comes to light.

In addition to Leslie Grace in the lead role, Batgirl stars Jacob Scipio and Ivory Aquino, with Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and J.K. Simmons reprising the role of Jim Gordon. Loki composer Natalie Holt announced that she's signed on to work on the movie's score, while Christina Hodson, who wrote Bumblebee and also worked on Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the most recent draft of the script.

No official premiere date has been set.

Keeping super low expectations, even movies like SMNWH and DSMoM have been much more mediocre than they were hyped up to be. Having cross overs alone doesn’t make a movie great. That said I’m really not a fan of the direction DC has been going lately, reportedly killing Supes in Flash to have him replaced with Supergirl, getting stuck with a geriatric Batman who’s coaching Babs instead of Terry, adult Billy Batson instead, musical sing along sequel Joker 2 and the lost goes on.

@MuadDib - as if positive early reviews of a DC film have never been skewed or just dead wrong. As a comic book fan you hope that it’s true and it’s great, but as a realist who’s had to live through everything they’ve been pumping out these past few years, I’m not holding my breath. Only time will tell. But I’m not feeling it so far

@MuadDib - It's very much in line with the comments from WB brass. They don't use the source material for inspiration, and then use it to tell the version they want like the MCU does. Instead, they literally cherry pick from everything at their disposal. It's how you get Batman Beyond Bats, but Barbara instead of Terry. How you get TDKR Batman, but a Supes that is just starting out. It's that kind of disconnect that, while I love DC, makes their atttemps to make their own universe so convoluted at times.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - In Batgirl? they do, actually.
Then again, they had zero faith in The Batman :/

@TheHumanSpider2 - I think it’s not genuine faith, cause they have faith in 0 of their projects and lack of faith is why they’re stumbling at every step . WB just gotta let shit happen instead of forcing things

I see this movie like it could be more like Birds of Prey style than the Batman or Aquaman. So what I’m saying is this could be very CW-ish than I’d like to see in a movie.

I really hope WB takes this as a sign to release it in theatres. The budget isn't that big, and with a smart marketing campaign this movie can turn a big profit I think. They have te recoup the losses they're gonna suffer on The Flash some way.
