If you simply want to hear my current speculation about The Dark Knight Rises feel free to skip down to the third paragraph, however if you want to know about the inception of this speculation feel free to read on.

Since the moment that Bane and Catwoman were cast in the Dark Knight Rises I have speculated about what would happen if Bane would break the bat. I have speculated that should the bat be broken how would he recover or even if he would. Remember those rumors a while back when Mr. Nolan said that everything would come full circle, or that rumor about the inclusion of Robin. I speculated like crazy. When it was rumored by a certain CBM-er that Batman's back would in fact be broken, an idea came about. Where too begin... When Nolan said that everything would come full circle everyone went off about how it could mean the return of the league of shadows I found it all soooo boring because I thought i saw it all in Batman Begins; I went off in a different direction. When reported site scouting was done for bird boys hideout I started thinking of Schumachers Batman Forever, and then of the whole coming full circle thing. I remembered back to The Dark Knight when Harvy Dent said that "...Batman must be looking for someone to take up his mantle." I started drawing connections between the league of shadows, Bane, Batman's broken back, Catwoman, and Robin. I began to combine all the speculation to form one piece of massive speculation myself, and here it is.

Bane is sort of the Dark side of batman, the thing batman could have become had he joined the league of shadows or if luke had joined vader to rule the galaxy. Bane after hearing about the death of his mentor Ras al Ghul seeks revenge against the Bat. Bane takes over the now leader-less mob and destroys Arkham Asylum letting all the crazies run loose. Batman physically and mentally weakened is now attacked by Bane and his back is broken. Selina Kyle and Miranda Tate take care of him. Selina then finds the Lazerus pits and dunks Bruce Wayne. Batman then goes after Bane eventually defeating him (barely)gets killed by mob and the mantle of Batman gets passed onto a close friend (Dick Grayson). However the mob again without a leader becomes a disorganized mess. With Gotham cleansed Grayson never has to become batman.

post your thoughts below.

NOTE: I know in the comics there is another heir to the Falcone crime family called Alberto Falcone, since he has not been cast in the movie yet i am assuming that in the Nolanverse/Batman-Universe he does not exist.

Gotham has evolved.

They're not as hopeless as they were in 'Batman Begins'.

I'd like to see a group of Batman imposters led by Catwoman help Bruce against the League.

Agreed, with your Star Wars connection.

Bane will finish what Ra's started, but with what method?

Use politics? Nixon runs for mayor... succeeds.... starts an anti-Batman campaign..... calling him a murderer...... create a civil war in Gotham....... pro-Batman vs. anti-Batman???

LEGACY.

I wouldn't mind it but I can't see it happening, at least like that.

It just wouldn't make sense to have 3 movies about Bruce's Batman just to hand the job over to some new guy we meet in pt 3.

And I'm not sure what the timeline is between Begins and TDKR but shouldn't Bruce be Batman for a much longer period of time?

REMEMBER EVERYONE, NOLAN HAS SHOT DOWN THE IDEA OF USING ROBIN!

ROBIN WON'T APPEAR IN THE NOLANVERSE!

That being said, Dick Grayson is one of my all time favorite characters, but I only care to see his Nightwing persona on the big screen. I hope Tim Drake gets a big screen adaptation sometime in the future though.

Batman won´t team up with anybody.
Neither Catwoman will help him and much less Robin will be in this movie.

"Selina then finds the Lazerus pits and dunks Bruce Wayne."

The only one who has chances to tell Bruce about the LP is Miranda/Talia.
Or Ra´s if he´s still alive.
Why Catwoman?
She has nothing to do with Ra´s and the LP.

Miranda AND Selina taking care of Bruce?????
No.
Only one of both will help him.

Anyone who said this "speculation" was well thought out has obviously been drinking the bong water. Nolan has been very clear about Robin NOT being included in his telling of the Batman story, so please just stop with all of the Robin speculation. Next thing you know, somebody is going to pipe up with a Batgirl speculation.

At this point we don't know that Miranda Tate is Talia. Personally, I dont even think she is, though I won't mind if Im eventually proven wrong.

Also, I cant see Batman passing on the mantle in the 3rd act of the 3rd film... Too little time to set it up.

I think it´s hard Talia NOT being in the movie.
She has EVERYTHING to be.
Joey King will play the young Talia, because she was seen in India.
And she looks like a mini Marion Cotillard,so...
If Joey King is the young Talia,Miranda(Cotillard)is Talia.
There ain´t other way.
I´m 99% confident that Talia is in the movie.
I think she will tell Bruce about the LP after he is injured by Bane.
I doubt other person will do that if not her.

okay, i might get a lot of shit for this but these are simply my thoughts, if Dick Grayson were to appear at all, he would still be very young due to the fact that Barbera Gordon appeared in TDK and was still a toddler (and i recognize that this is Nolan's universe but i feel that he recognizes the fact that Barbera was a very important love interest for Dick, and having the two characters be such radically different ages would have the possibility of a small fan backlash, which Nolan would avoid at all costs) again its simply a thought, but i doubt that Dick will appear
