Jonathan Nolan Comments On Leaked The Dark Knight Rises Set Photos!

Talking to IGN Movies, The Dark Knight Rises screenwriter Jonathan Nolan has revealed what it was like to see all of the leaked set photos and footage from the movie (which is directed by his brother in case you didn't realize - the clue is in the surname!) on the web, while also sharing his thoughts on the people uploading them, and the scale of the highly anticipated DC Comics adaptation.

"It was great because we were working [on Person of Interest]. So that was the only way I was able to get down to set was to watch it on YouTube!"

"Yeah, I think the goal with those movies is just to make something so...You know, Chris loves to shoot on these IMAX cameras, these massive cameras. As soon as you release something in the theaters, like a trailer, people go in and they record it with their iPhone or a camera, and they put it online. But when we first released that IMAX prologue for The Dark Knight, the image was so big that no one could record the whole thing with their camera. So you have one YouTube video of the top half of it and another YouTube video of the bottom half."

"I think the goal with those movies and the thing that Chris is doing and just kicking ass with is making a movie so big that you couldn't possibly fit all of it. Even in tiny little pieces, you still wouldn't get a sense of the scale of it. I saw a little bit the other day, and the scale is just vast."

Interesting thing about "Jonah" as Chris calls him, is that he grew up more in the States while Chris lived more in England. Jonathan doesn't speak with an English accent and is a little less refined than his big brother. I met him along with Chris and Wally Pfister on the set of TDK. These guys are all chill and really nice. I got nothing but respect for them.

@TheQuestion- Ahh , I knew I got the right impression of him. Good inside info.
As for what these gents might have in store for us that can make the leaked photos pale in comparison, I got one word...GODZILLA!!!

Yeah, it's all about post production. These guy's are tech geniuses and artists. When they get done perfecting the raw footage, it will be epic...and then GODZILLA trashes Gotham- super epic!

Catwoman.. looks like shit and is miscast

Bane.. looks like shit and is miscast

Batman.. Same old, same old.

JGL.. Is a cop, and is miscast as a cop.

Miranda Tate.. Obviously Talia... worst kept secret ever.

The Bat-Wing.. Looks like shit.

Everything is in daylight...

I mean.. umm, what the [frick] is epic here.

All your personal opinion though. I disagree with every statement and I have his previous movies to back me up. So I'm very happy with how it's shaping up and I'm sure i'll love it..you may not. They are set pics..how many times to people have to be proven wrong before they learn to wait and see what the movie will ACTUALLY be like? I mean look at the Avengers. Is that movie going to be about a bunch of wax work action figures pulling rape faces? Of course it isn't..but by the set pics and marketing that sure seems to be the impression. I laugh my ass of every time I read a Cap article full of praise for how great the movie was. Anyone remember when Chris Evans was first cast?

"Shit, it'l be shit, he's the human torch, [frick] you Marvel, he can't act, he's miscast, ARGGGHHHHHHH"

Well, his scale reference, he is clearly eluding to the fact Killer Croc will be a villain in this move.

Yeah obviously we get some type of opinion formed by set pics but my point is that it's nearly always proven wrong because we are not seeing the final vision. So maybe Catwoman could have looked better..ok definitely could have, Bane I'm ok with..what I have heard from the plot sounds awesome. I've just learned not to judge until at least a full trailer. I also thought that little teaser was fantastic despite reusing footage. Yeah Spidey 3 was a bit of a freak of nature though, its very rare a director will [frick] up like that. Although I actually didn't think it was that bad anyway! Also Raimi has a few stinkers before that, I don't personally think Nolan has ever made a film I didn't at least like, most I loved so I really can't see why he would suddenly disappoint me now.

And remember, the sound track adds a whole new dimension to the film.( it might help if you look at the set photos while listening to Richard Wagners 'Ride of the Valkyries')

I never heard of Sam Raimi until Spiderman. Apparently Raimi likes to wear suits.

I first heard of Chris Nolan when I saw Momento, which is in my top ten. So is TDK.

I am cautiously optimistic about Whedin. Some of his comments aren't very reassuring. But I have faith.

That faith is based on nothing but fondness of the characters not the directors record which is by no means comperable to Nolan's.

Those twp guys are Apples and Oranges. I don't know why I capitalised that.

My expectations for this movie are getting lower and lower . . . the last movie was so overrated. DC needs to reboot the franchise & make it faithful to the comics, like what Marc Webb is doing w/ Spider-Man. Nolan needs to stick to his Inceptiony stuff.

Times I've played Richard Wagners 'Ride of the Valkyries' on my MP3 for inspiration:
1)In the 10 items or less line and a customer has 18:She ran out the store and left the groceries on the belt.
2)I'm constipated: works every time!
3)Someone stole my parking space: Still living down that misdemeanor.
4)Watching the 'Green Lantern' movie: Played it mid-way through; first time I ever got kicked out of a theater.
It's the power of music!
