Variety has revealed our first (somewhat) high-quality look at Mattel's Movie Masters Bane figure from The Dark Knight Rises. Updated with much larger picture.

We've seen lots of new merchandise for The Dark Knight Rises today, but now we have our first high quality look at Mattel's Bane figure. Variety lists the figure as being a part of the "Movie Masters" Line, but due to its poor articulation, some believe it is rather from the basic figure line.

Thanks to a heads up from TheJokerMask, we now have a much better/more detailed look at the figure:

"Batman is among the most iconic superheroes in popular culture, and this year's merchandise program, highlighted by 'The Dark Knight Rises,' reflects the incredible legacy of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, as well as the longevity of the character over the course of time across all forms of entertainment,"

-Karen McTier, exec VP of domestic licensing and worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Consumer Products

"While Batman leads the way for us this year, we are also excited to have the most diverse portfolio of toy partners we have had for some time -- and the content to support them,"

-Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

The figure looks as good as the original - which is terrible to begin with. Sorry, but Bane looks like crap. I'll reserve final judgement for the film, but so far I'm not impressed.

Bane's entire look is horrible in this movie. I liked the luchador mask, it said a lot about his character. NO, I'm not referring to Batman & Robin.

I think everyone who hates the way bane looks in tdkr should all submit their own designs of how bane should have been interpreted for this movie and we can make an article of it under fan fiction. That would be interesting to see how everyone would hate on each others designs in the comments and we could finally understand that ultimately you can't satisfy everyone, so why bother trying. You shouldn't worry about making everyone happy with a particular look and just focus on making an awesome character that fits with the story your trying to tell.

I just watched Warrior and I gotta say Tom Hardy was amazing in it. Everything Nolan has said about him being a very physical actor is absolutely true. He is so intense in his fight scenes it's scary. Am now looking forward to TDKR even more

Homies arms dont bend att he elbows? That's not even an action figure. His legs dont bend either. Its obviously a piece to something else.

Does anyone know why Bane is wearing that mask over his mouth and nose only...Are his features Skeletal underneath that mask or what...What is the reason for it...Hopefully this will be explained in the movie...

This isn't Movie Masters. A previous article (German, I think) lists this as part of the smaller less detailed kids line of figures.
