TDKR: Press Release Would Seem To Confirm Cillian Murphy Will Return As Scarecrow

A press release containing a media alert for the European premiere of The Dark Knight Rises announces the cast members attending, and guess who's name is among them?..

It has long been rumored that Cillian Murphy would reprise the role of Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow) in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. There were even a few (still unconfirmed) scene descriptions which detailed what part he may play in the proceedings. But the actor himself has remained tight lipped whenever he has been asked about it in interviews. Now it seems the evidence is pretty cut and dry - the cast members attending the European premiere of the movie are as follows..

Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine.

Since it's highly unlikely Murphy is just tagging along to hang out with his old pals from the previous movies, I think we can take this as confirmation that Dr. Crane will be back to give Bats grief in the threequel. But in what capacity? All signs point to a cameo appearance, but who knows. Would you guys like to see Scarecrow play a slightly larger role this time around?

Good, good. I think that old rumor where he'll be a judge in an underground court (or whatever it is) was pretty cool, so hopefully that's true.

"nolan makes hime wear the shitest costumes i have erm.... ever seen"

I never understood the logic that a Luchador mask looks corny (yet it is a recognizable mask to millions of people...they gave away 15,000 Luchador masks at a Diamondbacks/Dodgers game a couple weeks ago) but a gunny sack over someone's head is realistic and doesn't look corny. It's okay...keep it consistent and make the villains look like they are supposed to. :-)

I have heard multiple rumors that the embargo on The Dark Knight Rises would be lifted today, June 29th to let a few reviews come through. Does anybody know if this is true? It'd be awesome to hear some early buzz on what some critics thought.

Now see, if Harvey hadn't gone off the deep end and landed six feet under, we'd have the potential to see a bit of craziness from No Man's Land, mixed with Scarecrow. Imagine Scarecrow as the judge in a kangaroo court, with Two-Face prosecuting every cop held hostage in Gotham for failing to protect the city.

@Jolt17

yeah the rumour was

SPOILERS

that the scarecrow was judge in a court appointed by Bane to sentence rich gothamites to exile or death, the task being to walk across the ice covered river. this would then tie into set pics of batman and gordon on a frozen river. and the footage from the trailer the actor burn gorman being forced to sit in a large room when looks to be a makeshift court.

sounds amazing to me so i hope its all true

I hope that there are a shit-ton of cameos. even if there are brief moments during the jail break where a pudgy guy w/ a monacle waddles his way through a broken wall, or a muscle-bound guy overly tattooed to look like a crocodile (complete with split tongue).

this is our last chance to see a Nolan version of classic Bats rogues....

and he picked Zangief with a metal jock-strap on his face. FTL

I hope he ain't the only surprise appearance in the flick! IMO, he could tie in so many little references to major characters w/o diluting the story of TDKR ala Begins..

Nolan better go out with a bang and just destroy all doubts that people have in his Batman lore!
