Ever since Katie Holmes was confirmed as a no-show for The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, the rumor mill has been working overtime on who would replace her as Asst. D.A. Rachel Dawes, Bruce Wayne's childhood friend-turned-love interest.

While Emily Blunt and Rachel McAdams have been rumored, Latino Review reports that Maggie Gyllenhaal has been cast as the new Rachel. The site was the first to name Gyllenhaal, 28, as a leading contender for the role some weeks back.

IGN contacted Gyllenhaal's reps at CAA today who advised us flatly, "We have no comment or denial on that."

If she is indeed cast in Dark Knight then Maggie would be starring opposite her brother Jake Gyllenhaal's Brokeback Mountain co-star Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker.

Maggie Gyllenhaal's credits include Secretary, World Trade Center, Stranger Than Fiction, Sherry Baby, Trust the Man and Monster House.

Thanks go to Ryan for the head's up.
