The Real Man Between Superman and Batman.

The Real Man Between Superman and Batman.

We have all asked an infinite number of times who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman. But it's not about that. Make the jump to hear(or read I should say), what I have to say. *Note I am a extreme Superman fan*

We all ask this question over and over again. Who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman. I hate when this question is asked because its not who would win in a fight. Its who's the greater man.
Batman and Superman are two respectable men. They would never go hand to hand trying to fight each other, unless they were controlled. It shouldn't be about who would win in a fight, because we all know that if it were hand to hand combat, Superman would be the crap out of Batman.

We should be asking ourselves who's a greater man.

Batman is a man, and nothing else than a man. He has no superpowers, no advantages, no magic, no items. Yet he riske's his life all the time, to go out against all these villians, and scum to protect others. Superman is perfect. Some might argue this is false with kryptonite and red suns, Bull [crap]. He has a good heart, and I am not saying hes evil or a wimp(he's one of the greatest heroes ever), but that compared to Batman he might as well not even be a hero.

The only things that could hurt Superman are Kryptonite, Magic, and more powerful beings. Superman is resistant to almost everything humans are. Batman is as resistant to things as we are, yet he goes out at night in a normal non- bullet proof suit, without flight, just his skills and brain in a dangerous town at night when its at its peak of scum. That is a real man.

Superman is a great man to, but ask yourself, do you think that if he was just born as regular old Clark Kent he would go out and do the things Batman does? He's just putting his powers to use, which is being a real man but Bruce Wayne would be better with his powers, if he can be compared to Superman without his powers. But he doesn't need powers, and I'm sure if he was given the opportunity to gain powers he would refuse. He's Batman, what does he need powers for?!?

Believe me I'm not just saying this because I prefer Batman, if Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent switched place's I'd be giving this speech but switching sides. But point is, Batman will always be the better man.

His legacy will always reign supreme, whether it's through costumes with nibbles or speechless characters. But we alway's have an opinion, and I don't want to just focus on me. Just know that I have always liked Superman, and I like him as much as some of the Superman die hard's. Who do you think is the greater man?

Superman isn't really a man. That would make Batman the better man.
By the way Batman doeds wear bulletproof armor in his costume.

k so all u did hear in this thead was basically bash batman and make superman look like he's god. When i read the title of this post i thought maybe it was going to be an intresting thread but all u did hear was find the flaws in Batman (I smell a Batman Hater). Yes Batman is only man but u forgot he's a [frick]ing Genius and he's not going to fight superman without finding out waht can stop him. I dont even [frick]ing care but I dislike Superman. Just because he's powerful that means other dont get a chance to stop him bull crap. Even though a superhero is powerful i would atleast like to see them down sometimes because it teaches me that when ur down u always have to learn to pick ur self up. Batman will always defeat Superman whether they are under poison Ivy's spell or they are made to look like they've backstabbed eacherother. It's common sense batman is a genius and always thinks 5000 steps ahead while superman is a man that just wants to get to a scene of a crime and make things better

Now that we've established that Batman would be killed instantly in an actual fight, let's reveiw this, "better man" thing.

Batman is crazy. Batman beats criminals, hangs them upside down over bridges and breaks their ribs.

Superman would never do that.

It's a tough call but an interesting conversation.

Gaston put it wonderfully, well done!

The thing is Batman was fuelled by vengeance at the start and that anger never leaves, no matter how he is able to control it. It takes a will of iron to go out and do what he does with no powers but if he did have powers he would be a different man. He talks often about how hard it is not to cross the line. I think if he had Superman's powers he would cross the line and ultimately become a villain.

Superman is such a beacon of hope because he harnesses his power. Every day his powers give him the choice to conquer the entire world. He could easily force his way into ruling the planet and destroy anyone who objects. But he doesn't.

Both Superman and Batman have sacrificed their personal lives to become a hero. While Clark with no powers may not go out fighting crime, he will have the same morals and strength of character. If Batman had power he would fight crime but cross the line until eventually falling into complete darkness.

Abraham Lincoln once said:

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

@ KKKK I don't know if you actually read, the article or not but I was talking about how Batman is the better man, not Superman.

@ Gaston Well put.

@ Neo , both Bats and Supes have gone through a big evolution especially Bats, from being a kid natured hero, to a dark knight. Basically he just cares about whether the the criminal lives or not, and will beat them to a pulp. But either way he's a hero.

@ GodDanmSuperGuy Bats wouldn't of even beat Superman in TDKR if it wasn't for Green Arrow.

@ Tea No Boobs, O_O. lol

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but what I've gathered from this article and the comments that followed is that comparing Batman and Superman is like comparing apples and oranges. They both carry unique properties that make them who they are and very different from each other as well, but they both are beneficial and work pretty well together in a fruit basket.

I love both. What people don't realize is yeah Supes has advantages Batman doesn't have. But so does Batman- he's rich, has tons of women and is barely even running Wayne Enterprises.

Clark Kent on the other hand has to actually WORK (he wasn't born rich) Clark had to struggle just to hook up with Lois. Clark grew up on a farm with the basic, simple American/Christian values...he didn't grow up with a 'silver-spoon' the way Bruce Wayne did.

Batman lost his parents...yes. Sadly crimes do occur in every part of the world. Superman lost his parents and his entire homeworld. But see- despite losing everything, Superman still hasn't lost himself the way Batman has. Now some might argue that Superman was only a baby when his homeplanet blew up so it didn't affect him the way Batman losing his parents did. But come on, nonetheless i don't care how old he was at the time- if you find out that your family and your people...and basically your HOME was completely destroyed, I'd like to think that would cause you some mental issues I mean seriously being the last survivor...survivor of an extinct race.

But STILL Superman hasn't lost himself within the darkness like Batman. STILL Superman is a beacon of light and hope for a better tomorrow.

Superman and Batman are both great men for different reasons.

speaking in terms in "better hero", Batman kicks ass. he has many weaknesses. he is a more compelling character. he is more relatable (much more relatable than superman). his stories are all together darker and cooler. but in an all out fist-a-cuffs dual, unless batman had like a day to prepare, superman would break the bat in-half.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 3/8/2011, 6:09 PM
manymade1 I never said Batman wasn't a hero. But Superman would NEVER harm someone for information and/or pleasure. In a lot of cases, criminals do need to get that ass whooped thouroughly. Batman provides a type of justice that criminals deserve, but it is against the law and morally questionable. Because Superman would never partake in such a violent practice, it is without any doubt that he is the better man. It really can't be disputed.

.....who said that if Batman had Superman's powers he would kill everyone....are you kidding me..he doesn't need [frick]ing powers to kill people. hes Batman! he knows how to kill...its not that hard (but its wrong!)lol Superman said it himself...Batman is the most dangerous man on Earth. what makes Batman the better man is that he chose to become something more then a hero...even if he looks like a villain (thats the sacrifice he makes) , he does things for the greater good but with his one rule that keeps him in check...and in a way he does have a superpower...his self control. so you can't say Batman would go crazy if he had powers...he would keep those powers in check.

TheBatman938865 So, beating a man within an inch of his life represents "self control" because Batman doesn't finish the job? lol That's like commending a rapist for not killing his victim. Self control is being more powerful than anyone on the planet and not once think about taking it over.

We all like Bats, but let's be real.

Okay so before this degenerates in a "who is gonna beat who in a fight" lemme clarify some things. Firstly comparing the two IS VERY difficult as they are both great men in their own right. If pressed however i would give the edge to Batman, and here is why:

Bruce's parents died in front of him at the age of 8. While this is damaging emotionally and mentally for anyone of ANY age farless a child, Bruce could have lived the rest of his life as a rich playboy and be happy (to some extent). I mean he is disgustingly rich after all. Instead he commits himself to become this avenger NOT JUST for him but for those whom evil has not yet befallen. Secondly, like many said before, he has no powers. It is very easy to make decisions when there are no consequences for you. I am not saying its easy to be superman, but how many of you would try to stop a robbery knowing you can be killed? Yes i know superman fights people who CAN kill him, but how often? How often does superman LITERALLY put his life on the line? Batman does this every night he steps into gotham. Thirdly, everyone hates Batman. Authorities and villains alike. It is very easy to continue doing something if everyone likes you for it. There is a statue of superman in metropolis park, there wasn't even a marked tombstone for batman when he "died". I'm not saying superman does what he does for the fame, but rather point out how disciplined and determined Batman is. Not being able to "give a crap" about what other people think of you is a superpower in and of itself.

finally on the topic of batman's"self control". I dont think its fair to say he has none. Like he said in under the red hood when jason todd asked him why he didnt kill the joker: "Because it would be too easy". Batman has the ability to kill any and every one of his rogues. And in spite of their repeated transgressions against him and his allies he refuses to cross that line. Thats an amazing amount of self control if you ask me. Yes he uses questionable methods of extracting information and inspiring fear, but thats because he NEEDS TO. To batman fear is his "yellow sun" so to speak. The VERY reason he dresses like a bat is cuz when he went out for the first time he got his ass kicked badly lol.

Above all else Bruce Wayne, through sheer strength of will and determination MADE HIMSELF into batman, and through that same will and determination CONTINUES to be batman. I respect supes and what he represents and does, and yes, the responsibility of "being superman" is monumental, but to me batman is a greater inspiration and to me the "greater man"

Ok, first off, yes, i understand superman COULD abuse powers (i said this already in my post), and the fact that he doesn't is what makes him a hero (well at least thats what makes him a hero to ME).

Secondly i only made the comment about self control because other people seemed to think batman had none (or little) I NEVER said superman didn't, so i dunno what your 2nd paragraph rant is all about. You also seem to keep reintroducing the idea that Batman would kill people that have crossed him, but that is clearly not the case. Batman has proven time and time again that he will never kill. Yea he may make people THINK he might, but he will never actually do it. And that whole rubbish about "what if alfred got killed?" Man seriously? The joker killed robin, someone just as close to him as alfred, and yet batman didn't kill him. The joker killed commissioner gordon's wife and yet STILL the joker is alive.

And it is not crap. Yes, superman is "the last" of his race and he prlly cannot have a kryptonian family. But he was not robbed of the family experience. His adoptive parents raised him as if he was their own. He had quite a normal childhood up until putting the red cape and tights on.

Your only point seems to be that becuz superman doesnt abuse his power he is better. But batman could just as easily abuse power. Sure he doesn't have much physical power when you compare him to superman but what about his other assests? Like wayne enterprises? Batman could easily end up just like Luthor or Cobblepot if he used his family fortune for "evil". Also batman is a highly trained martial artist with alot of anger issues resulting from his parent's death. He could easily snap and kill a random criminal on any given night. Wouldn't that also count as abuse of power? Has he ever done so?

My point is simply this. Batman has had to endure alot more hardships (BY COMPARISON) to BECOME batman and still even more (again BY COMPARISON) to continue to be batman. I hope you understand where i'm coming from, but judging by your display pic I doubt you will. Agree to disagree i suppose

@NeoBaggins: haha get the hell out of here..."Self control is not being more powerful and not taking over....self control is just self control...i mean be honest...if you faced a dude that just murdered kids and you were fighting him and he keeps saying how hes gonna kill more...you mean to tell me you wouldn't think of killing this dude...we probably would all snap and just kill the dude (some of us probably not) but Batman wont..hes got more self control, i mean he goes and sees this shit happening and it takes every control of himself not to just kill all these bad guys(some deserve it..but it doesn't give you the right too)..and the reason for Superman not having that problem is because he grew up in Smallville...he didn't see [frick]ed up shit that Bruce saw, and Metropolis isn't that bad (besides invading aliens) lol

wooooooaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!! hold up a sec. Batman doesn't believe in humanity? His decision to NOT KILL proves you wrong yet again. It is what separates him from the very crime he is trying to prevent. His whole existence hinges on the fact that HE BELIEVES humanity can be saved. I think what you mean to say is that Batman doesn't TRUST anyone.

The word "good" is subjective, so superman is the definition of YOUR "good". No one said anything about batman being cooler or more badass, sounds to me like you got a chip on your shoulder there mate.

Ok, so superman will have to watch as everyone he ever loved dies.....................now he knows how an 8 your old bruce wayne feels.
g1g3x
g1g3x - 3/11/2011, 6:21 AM
I dunno if thats an appropriate yardstick to measure humanity by but if you say so. Of course batman will not trust people, i mean look where he grew up lol. Gotham is the most corrupt place in the DCU. Also he is a DETECTIVE, he can't just trust any and everyone, he'll never be able to get his job done if he did that.

And i think he does trust superman (who is NOT his closest friend btw). I mean, he lets him into the batcave, he knows his secret identity, he calls him for help on occasion. Yea he has kryptonite, but thats "just in case". Superman is arguably the most powerful person in the DCU and as the man who is prepared for everything (batman that is) it would make sense to prepare for chance (if ever so slight)of superman turning evil.

TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY Very good points. But people are confusing the core topic with popularity. They like Batman so much that they can't come to admit that he is more flawed as a man than Superman. Batman has been my favorite since I was kid. I like the idea of beating the shit out of criminals. That's why I could never have Supes powers lol.

TheBatman938865 Batman's parents were killed. Superman's entire planet was destroyed. Now YOU get the hell outta here.
