Production is now officially underway on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Atlanta, Georgia.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that cameras are rolling on Ryan Coogler's sequel during the Black Widow Global Fan Event in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. While he didn't reveal any new details, he did promise that the follow-up will "make Chad proud."

“It’s clearly very emotional without Chad,” Feige told Variety. “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”

Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away last August after a 4-year battle with colon cancer. The role of T'Challa will not be recast, with Shuri (Letitia Wright) the favorite to take up the mantle of Black Panther. Feige didn't allude to this, but did say that everyone else "from the original cast is also coming back," which means we will most likely see Wright, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett reprise their respective roles.

A rumor that Narcos Mexico actor Tenoch Huerta will play Namor in the movie recently did the rounds, but that obviously remains to be seen.

Marvel Studios announced that the highly-anticipated sequel will be titled Wakanda Forever during a recent Phase 4 preview. Specific plot details remain under wraps, but a brief logline tells us that "Wakanda Forever will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film."

I can't say, at this particular time, that this is my most anticipated movie on the far horizon, but it is the one I'm most interested to see how things are played out with the lost of Chadwick.

@Mugens - yeah same for me. Whatever they end up doing, I think they're never gonna satisfy everyone

@Mugens - Considering T'Challa was snapped, this movie could very well be set during the blip.

I wish they would just recast Tchalla honestly.

@SnideCut - too soon. Would be seen as disrespectful to Chadwick.

@SnideCut - I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think Marvel made the right decision, since BP2 wasn't gonna be shelved.

I'm fine with M'Baka or Shuri taking up the mantle. No need to recast. That'd be like the original idea for Nolans third movie where he planned on using the Joker again, imagine of they recanted him.. yeah no thanks

I’m very interested to see what they do, but I have no interest in seeing Shuri take up the mantle.

Do any of you believe that Chadwick would not want T'Challa/Black Panther to continue as a character in the future movies.

He didn't come across that way as an actor.

@marvel72 - I do think he would have the role to carry on.

But I also see it as, for example if they wanted to re cast Stark or Rogers but those actors didn't want to come back for a story to be done just as soon.

People would feel a way I think.
