BLACK PANTHER Wins Big at the 44th Annual Saturn Awards

Black Panther is the hottest thing in terms of comic book movies right now, and because of its success, it managed to walk away with five awards.

The 44th Annual Saturn Awards took place recently, and guess what? Black Panther came away as a big winner. Now, it’s not a well-known award show, therefore, you might not care, but at least a comic book movie walked away with five prizes.

According to what we’ve gathered from the award show, Black Panther managed to win the gold trophy for Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture, Best Director (Ryan Coogler), Best Supporting Actress (Danai Gurira), Best Production Design, and Best Make-Up.

The movie was nominated for several other awards but lost out to other films. The writing in the movie was off, therefore, it failed to win in the Best Writing category. Furthermore, while Chadwick Boseman looked the part as Black Panther, his acting wasn’t that great, so the Best Actor award went to someone else.

The biggest surprise at the award show is The Flash winning Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series over Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and that shouldn’t be happening. Make no mistake, the last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was much better than the last season of The Flash.

Additionally, Jon Bernthal won Best Actor on Television for his role in The Punisher, while Melissa Benoist took the female equivalent for her lead role in Supergirl.

We should point out that Patrick Stewart won the award for Best Supporting Actor after playing Professor Xavier in Logan back in 2017. This should come as no surprise because Mr. Stewart performed extremely well. It’s sad we may never get the chance to see him as Professor Xavier again.

We have to say, comic book movies were well represented at the Saturn Awards, and this makes us increasingly hopeful that things might change at the Oscars and other major award show in the near future.

Black Panther losing to Beauty and the Beast in the Best Costume category is shameful.

Outlander winning over Game of Thrones (and American Gods) in Best Fantasy TV Series feels weird.

Congratulations to Mark Hamill for his Best Actor win! Much as I don't like TLJ Hamill did an all around great job and deserves the recognition.

I think The Tick should have won over Punisher. Just my opinion. Also would have taken Black Lightning over the Flash.

Melissa Benoist didn't win for Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television this year! (She won last year)

It was Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery)

This article is the antithesis of objective. Wow.

BP is a shoe in for best Costume at the Oscars. Should've won the Saturn. A cinematography nom is a possibilty. Production design too. Best Score I would say is a possible definite too.
