ANT-MAN Post-Credit Scene Will Also Appear In CIVIL WAR

Marvel's post-credit scenes have taken many forms - from cracking jokes to providing key plot information in between movies. But it turns out that one of Ant-Man's post-credit scenes may be an actual scene from the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.

Now that Ant-Man is officially in theaters, a number of interviews and articles have been posted that provide more insight into the film's post-credit scenes. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Peyton Reed states that the second post-credit scene was added after seeing dailies from Captain America: Civil War. "When the dailies came in for the scene which is now the second tag, there was a moment that seemed to really complete the arc in our movie."

Reed added that originally some comedic tags had been envisioned for the second post-credit scene, featuring Michael Peña’s character in the film. Instead, it was determined that a second tag that ties to the Falcon's cameo and would set up Ant-Man's appearance in future MCU films would have a greater impact.

Another report indicates that the post-credit scene will actually appear in Civil War. "It's an actual scene from 'Civil War,' although it will probably play differently," according to Hitfix. "This is the first pass at the moment," which involves Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier restrained in a basement with Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson talking about "how they're going to protect him." Steve and Sam reference "the accords" and Sam suggests they reach out to Ant-Man for assistance.

Hitfix also points out that the scene was directed by Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo and written by Civil War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Notably, it states that the scene with Sam and Scott Lang in the middle of Ant-Man was also scripted by Markus and McFeely.

At least it'll be in Civil War because it was freaking terribly out of left field in Ant-Man.

"It's an actual scene from 'Civil War,' although it will probably play differently,"

Wait so it won't be exactly the same? It will be the same scene but handled differently? So which scene is the real scene? Marvel doesn't do continuity errors like this.

Pretty sure we knew this already. The post-credits tag was directed by the Russo brothers (obviously, since it was taken from the dailies of Civil War), and even the dialogue of the entire Falcon cameo scene was written by Markus and McFeely, the writers for all the Cap movies.

I think it was in an article by Drew over at HitFix that made it seem like the post-credits scene in Ant-Man was just an early version of the scene, and that it'll be further revised and fine-tuned when it's shown in Civil War itself. So it could be a bit different when we finally see it in context. Interesting stuff.

Shit, knowing this'll be in the film I kind of wish we got a scene featuring Peña's character. Dude was hilarious. Hope Lang's whole gang returns.

@KurtWagner1225 Pure guess - the Accords are the MCU version of the SRA.

Clearly Ant-Man takes place sometime after Age of Ultron (Pym making that crack about the Avengers dropping cities out of the sky), and who knows how long after the events of Ant-Man that the post-credits scene takes place. But enough time has passed for Cap and Falcon to have found Bucky, so I'd imagine it's many months later and the government is already cracking down on the Avengers and super-powered individuals altogether.

The Accords could be the first draft of the SRA, and that's what makes Cap say that it might prevent them from contacting Stark about Bucky.

Either the Accords makes it illegal for Stark (and every other high-profile hero, for that matter) to get involved with the Avengers at all, or Stark is the one who proposed the Accords in the first place, and so he naturally wouldn't want to get involved anyway.

Either way, they need a virtually unknown person with special abilities to help them out, so Falcon implies that the guy he knows is Lang.

@KurtWagner1225 Haha trust me, I'm not smart enough to have come up with this myself! Me and my buddies tried to figure this all out right after seeing the movie, and this was our best guess.

Not the first time they've done this. Remember the after credits scene in Capt. America: TFA?

I hope Marvel releases some official pics of Black Panther and Spiderman at D23. That would be rad. I think it's still too early for a teaser trailer (except to those attending). That will probably hit the web in October, as usual.

Luke Cage has had both Ant-Man & Dr. Strange inside of him. I believe they entered separate holes.

Makes sense. I hate how we have to wait till May of next year to watch CW. At least we have AOS, AC and Netlfix Marvel to keep us sane till then. And of course DOJ.
